Greetings Virtual Academy Families,
Enrollment in the MVA is intended to be a full year commitment for the 2022-2023 school year. However, students may apply to transfer back to their assigned schools during designated transfer windows. As we approach the end of Marking Period 1, that means we are now in the window for families to request to return to in-person learning at their home school or school of assignment to start Marking Period 2. While we hope families will choose to stay with us, we recognize there are many reasons you may want to have your child transition to attend in-person learning.
To provide us notice of your intent to transfer, and to ensure we can provide a smooth transition for your child, please complete the survey linked below by Tuesday, October 25 so that we can coordinate with the school.

FAQ's about Transferring Back to the Home School or School of Assignment
What happens next?
The Virtual Academy staff will review the information in this form and may follow up if there are any additional questions. The Virtual Academy will then notify the school of your request to return your child to in-person learning. The home school will then inform you of your child's schedule, teachers, and other information prior to the start of Marking Period 2.
Do I need to contact the school?
The Virtual Academy will assist, and will communicate with your home school. However, families are also encouraged to contact the school to assist with establishing or re-establishing a connection to the school.
What do I do with my child’s chromebook and curriculum supplies issued by the MVA?
We are requesting that families return the chromebook to the Virtual Academy office so that it can be reissued to new students. Textbooks and instruments issued by the Virtual Academy also need to be returned. Students may keep any consumable materials, such as student workbooks and other school supplies. If you are unable to come to 15 West Gude Drive, please contact our main office (240-740-6060) to make arrangements to return items.
Can I return to the Virtual Academy at a later date?
Once families withdraw from the Virtual Academy, families must re-apply to express interest in returning to the Virtual Academy. For assistance, please contact our office at 240-740-6060.
Is there a deadline to make a request to return to in-person learning?
Yes, the deadline to make the request to return in person for the 2nd Quarter is Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
