Health Disparities in Virginia: Policy Legacies, Current Realities and Prospects for the Future
In Virginia, as in many other states, health disparities exist among racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and geographic groups. The burden of illness, disability and premature death disproportionately affects certain populations, with some groups enjoying better health and access to healthcare services than others. What factors account for health disparities in Virginia, and what solutions might help mitigate them? This panel brings together physicians and health policy experts to discuss the ethical, legal, medical and social implications of health inequities in Virginia—past, present and future. Co-sponsored by the Miller Center at UVA.
