Fort Wagner and the Africans
Made by Alex Weimerskirch
Event Information
Fort wagner
The attack on fort Wagner was a important war because this was when some of the first African Americans could prove that they could fight as well as any white man. They had a motivation because if they could prove themselves then they might be able to get equal pay. This was also very hard mission because they had to cross over 200 yards of sandy beach before they could reach the fort. As they attacked there was a heavy death count they had to pull out because they were almost slaughtered. Even though they lost this was a victory for black soldiers because they were able to get respect and equal pay.
