We have changed our content classes to reflect semester grades/learning from quarterly learning. In order to see your child’s grades, you need to click on “all terms” if you are on a computer, or “2nd quarter” if you are using the phone app. Our quarterly elective class grades are found under “1st quarter”. Canvas Observer and Infinite Campus Portal Parent Accounts - If you don’t have access to view your student’s progress in Infinite Campus or as a Canvas Observer, please follow the links to set up accounts. This the BEST way to stay on top of coursework.
Setting Students Up for Success
Please encourage your student(s) to follow the norms during virtual google meetings. They should have their camera on, their microphone off (unless needed), have a non-distracted background, and be school appropriate in the chat at all times. We will continue to learn together, but will be talking with students who aren’t meeting these expectations.
Wondering how to support your student(s) with staying organized at home? Here is an At-Home Organizer that may help your child stay on task, and organized while working at home.
Screenings and Return to School Protocols
Chromebooks
The district is changing our web filter from iBoss to GoGuardian the weekend of September 5. Please have your students restart their chromebooks on Monday to enforce these changes. Content filtering is not completely fail-safe. Here is the District Device Take Home Handbook with additional guidance on taking home Chromebooks. Students will be expected to bring a CHARGED Chromebook with them to school everyday. If you haven’t already returned the device contract, please read, sign and return the contract to school as soon as possible. How can you help your student? Remind them to charge it every night, help them keep it clean and encourage them to not share with others.
Safety
Please remind students to wear a mask before and after school. We ask that they have their mask on until they leave campus.

Cross Country Boys with a Win!
Severance hosted our first Cross Country Meet against Windsor Middle School this past week. We split the meet with SMS Boys winning and WMS Girls winning. Next week on Wednesday the 9th, our Varsity team will travel to the Bill Reed Quad and run at Mehaffey Park while SMS hosts the JV Quad at home. Girls will run first this week. Parent support was fantastic! Please remember you need to wear a mask to all away events, practice social distancing and sign your child out as soon as they are done running. They do not wait until the end of the meet to leave.
