School Year Calendar 2020-2021

School Year Calendar 2020-2021 Stakeholder Survey

The Limestone District School Board is requesting feedback on two options for the 2020-21 School Year Calendar. With Labour Day landing on September 7th, 2020, school will need to begin prior to Labour Day in order to ensure that the calendar has the required amount of days as prescribed by the Ministry of Education.

In consultation with the School Boards that we share transportation with – Hastings and Prince Edward and Algonquin Lakeshore – and our School Year Calendar Committee, we are seeking input on starting school on either Monday, August 31st, 2020 or Tuesday, September 1st, 2020. Both of these options would be PA Days, with students starting school the following day. Each option has implications for the end of the school year and the placement of the final PA Day. These are explained in the survey.

LDSB is looking for feedback from students, staff, parents and our community members. It would be appreciated if you would please take a moment to respond to the two options on an on-line survey. The survey is open for responses until Friday, Feb. 7th. Your input is important to us and we appreciate your time in submitting your feedback and comments. For more information, please visit the LDSB website which also provides a link to the Ministry of Education website.

Poetry from Ms. Jerreat's Grade 3/4 class

So Much Depends by Addy

So much depends upon

my Mom.

Keeping me safe

from the knocks on

the door.

Whale Shark by Claire

Under the sea

a whale shark is

hatching

living

breathing through its

gills

opening its mouth

swaying

sucking in

flowing

moving

waving its gills

swimming

gliding

eating

wondering how much

plankton is in the

ocean

Desert Reaper by Andrew

The scaly slimy reaper

darts and swallows

Deer by Andrew

The lightening dashes on its hooves

And disappears into the woods in a

Flash

Wolf by Caden

The wind moves fast like wolf,

it has great patience and attacks

at the perfect time

Students added an "About the Author" to back of their poetry projects.

Here is a clever one...
