October 12, 2022
Dear Sabre families,
We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and a chance to recharge as we settle into the beautiful colors that autumn has brought with it. One reflection to share on our first month together has been on how amazing our students have been, inside the classroom and out. They have set the tone for the 2022 - 2023 year and we couldn’t be prouder of how they have responded returning to ‘near normal conditions’. The grade 12’s have shown leadership by looking out for the grade 10 and 11’s. We hope that our 10’s are feeling more and more at home as each day passes.
This past week was the annual SAL - Facey football game which was sold out and well represented by the community. At the end of the day, both schools were winners by the way they supported each other and how each demonstrated school pride and sportsmanship. The weather, like the past two months, was spectacular and lots of fun was had for our teenagers and adults alike.
This week brings us to Parent Teacher Interviews this Wednesday beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the large gym. If you were unable to attend, our next date will be November 17, 2022. As mentioned in the last Sabre Scene, if you ever would like to meet administration, please do not hesitate to reach out and we can meet in whichever format works for you, in person or virtually.
Next week, on October 20, brings us to the School Council Meeting in the upper library at 6:30 p.m.. The agenda will be shared in a few days from now. Also, it is with great excitement that we have our first Graduation 2023 meeting on October 27, 2022. Stay tuned for specifics on how to attend in next week’s edition of the Scene.
Continuing on with sharing snippets of school data, here is the next piece below. As mentioned and discussed at length during school council, our data drives our decision making and gives us a better indication and understanding of our strengths and challenges as a school.
Have a great rest of the week, albeit short!
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
Staff Recognition Program:
Has your child had an amazing experience with a staff member? Maybe someone went above and beyond, or just made them feel supported? Wish you had a way to say a quick thank you?
School Council has just that!
For the third year, we are running our Staff Recognition program. We started it during Covid and continued with it the full year last year. The response from staff has been so amazing; your words really mean a lot to them.
So, how does it work? It's really quick and easy.
Visit www.RecognizeSAL.ca (that’s Recognize Sal) and fill in the form. That’s it (and you can easily complete the form in just a couple of minutes).
Then School Council takes your submission and shares it with the staff member (you have the option to include your name or remain anonymous) and we send a copy to Mr. Sandhu too. You can submit as many as you’d like and anytime that’s convenient! The program runs until the end of June.
Your words of appreciation do not need to be for huge events or activities. The small things often mean even more, so help us recognize the amazing staff at Sal!
