Our school’s Rocket League team, the Blazing Braves, were victorious in yesterday’s match against the Elizabethton High School’s Betsy Ballchasers, from Elizabethton, Tennessee. The team for this week was Christian Spencer, Joseph Bennett, and Bryson Avery. The team is now ranked #23 out of 88 Eastern region teams. This puts them in a good position for the playoffs, which start after Thanksgiving break! Good job team!

Health Office
Dear Parents,
Recently we have noticed an increase in students bringing medications into school. This is against HCS medication policy. Please review the policy below for nonprescription and prescription medications.
Medications found with students will be confiscated and destroyed.
NONPRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS:
1. Medication should be administered by a parent/guardian before or after school, when possible.
2. Medication must be brought to school by a responsible adult. (Do not send medication in with a child.)
3. Non-Prescription, also known as Over the Counter (OTC) medications must be delivered to the school nurse in the unopened, original container with the manufacturer’s label.
4. Due to limited storage space, please do not bring more than 30 doses of medication.
5. Over the Counter (OTC) medications may only be given within the limits and according to the instructions printed on the manufacturer’s container or the package insert.. Also, if the OTC medication is to be given longer than recommended guidelines a Physician’s order will be required.
6. Herbal substances are not considered medication and will not be administered by the school nurse.
7. First doses of a medication that a child has never received will not be given at school.
8. HCS district may reject requests for certain medications to be given at school.
9. This form remains in effect if the child transfers to another school within HCS district for the current school year.
10. You MUST complete a separate form for each medication that is to be given at school.
11. If the medication is to be given to more than one of your children, you MUST complete a separate form for each student.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS:
1. Medication should be administered by a parent/guardian before or after school hours, when possible.
2. Medication must be brought to the school nurse by a responsible adult. (Do not send medication in with a child.)
3. All prescribed medications must be provided to the school in the original labeled container issued by the pharmacist and accompanied by this permission form. (the label and the prescriber’s order on this form must match)
4. Any prescribed controlled substance must be brought to the school nurse by the parent when the prescription is filled each month and must be provided to the school nurse in the most recent pharmacy labeled container.
5. “Sample” medication must be provided in a container appropriately labeled, which identifies the medication and must be accompanied by a note signed and dated by the prescribing provider that includes the student’s name and directions for proper administration, along with this permission form.
6. Herbal substances are not considered medication and will not be administered by the school nurse.
7. First doses of a medication that a child has never received will not be given at school.
8. HCS district may reject requests for certain medications to be given at school.
9. This form is still valid and in effect if the child transfers to another school within HCS district for the current school year.
10. You MUST complete a separate form for each medication that is to be given at school.
