Our First Week!
News and Information
Blue Slips- This week, your child may have come home with a blue slip! At Wakefield School, this is the way we recognize when students are following behavioral expectations. As part of our Positive Behavior, Intervention and Support (PBIS) program, we teach students to Respect Ourselves, Others and Community (ROC). During the first weeks of kindergarten (and throughout their entire 5 years at Wakefield School), we spend a great deal of time teaching students how to be respectful members of our school community. A Kindergarten student may be given a blue slip for showing kindness to a friend, remembering to follow a classroom rule, picking up something that has fallen on the floor, etc. IMPORTANT- If your child brings home a blue slip, CELEBRATE! Ask for the reason, tell them how proud you are and sign it and return it to school! Your child will get to put their blue slip in the purple wizards box in the main office and may have their name pulled out and read over the morning announcements!
Friday Folders- Beginning this week, an Orange folder will come home at the Monday through Thursday and a purple folder will come home on Friday. The purple folder is your child's Friday Folder and is filled by the PTO on Friday with special notices, flyers and PTO information. Please return on Monday.
Homework- Beginning this week your child will have a brief math homework assignment Monday (Tuesday this week)thru Thursday. Please see notice and assignment coming home in Orange folders on Tuesday.
Share- A notice went home on Friday regarding our monthly Share. Your child will share their "All About Me" bag on their share day during the week of September 19th.
