Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

We all share a common goal for our children to be safe and protected from all things harmful. Related to that goal, Senate Bill 401 requires annual age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention in kindergarten through grade 9. Teen LuresTM Prevention is a research-based program that Gwinnett County Public Schools uses to teach the importance of healthy relationships and its connection to personal safety by way of class discussions, student handouts, video clips and corresponding activities. The program curriculum was submitted and reviewed by the Community Health Education Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Teen LuresTM Prevention program is to enable students to take an active and necessary role in making healthy choices and protecting themselves from unhealthy relationships. A committee of professional school counselors reviewed the program and selected components that were appropriate for middle school.

During the month of November, our school counselors will offer lessons from the Teen LuresTM Prevention program to students in grades 6-8. You can learn more about the program at www.teenluresprevention.com. Please be aware that more information is provided on the website than is actually used in our schools. Students will review what was learned in previous grade(s) and then discuss the following lures:

As always, counselors are available to discuss any concerns you might have.

A cross section of 7th grade health students are engaged and focused as Mr. Phillips teaches about Injury Prevention and Understanding Risks and Unintentional Injury.

We will continue with Unit 2b - Linear Functions and Relationships. The students will be able to graph in Slope-Intercept Form and analyze and interpret the characteristics of Linear Functions. Check your child’s grades weekly to ensure his/her academic success.

Please sign the vision screener consent form if you would like your scholar to get a free vision screening on Nov. 6th. PERMISSION SLIPS WERE SENT HOME WITH STUDENTS LAST WEEK.

Hello Art Club parents and students. Art Club will be getting 1 additional day to create!

Prepare to meet November 1st for tie dye t-shirts! At your earliest convenience please let me know your child's t-shirt size, as I will be purchasing t-shirts for tie dye next week. If you are interested, you are welcome to send your child with extra t-shirts if they want to make more than one!

The final day of art club will be November 8th!

A parent or guardian must bring any / all medications to the school and fill out a medication administration form. Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them at school or on the bus. This includes any over the counter medication, for example; cough drops, Tylenol, etc. If you would like your child to have any OTC medication left in the clinic, you must bring to school with a completed medical authorization form.

To give us authorization to give your student their medication you will need to complete the Medication Authorization Form. You may print it, complete it, and bring it in or you can pick one up to complete in the clinic. A separate form is required for each individual medication.

If your student requires an inhaler and/or an Epi-pen you will need to complete the appropriate form.

For your student to be permitted to carry their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, their physician will need to complete the section of our form advising us of their authorization. If the student will be carrying their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, we ask that you also provide the clinic with a backup in case one is needed.
