First Grade
We are so excited for a new school year and to help our students become amazing readers, writers, scientists, and mathematician! Thank you for your generous response to our supply lists and additional needs int he classroom. As the year progresses, we may ask for additional supplies as needed. We appreciate your support.
Sight words should be practices every day. Refer to your child's homework sheet and make flash cards as needed. Signed homework sheets should be returned on Friday.
Please help your child to arrive to school on time. First grade meets in the media center before school starts. A first-grade teacher is on duty daily in the media center beginning at 7:35 a.m. Parents are expected to leave their child at the media after giving hugs and kisses at the door! Our students are becoming very responsible and show integrity as they sit and wait for their teacher.
Communication between home and school is very important. We look forward to seeing you at our Open House. The date will be forthcoming.

Third Grade
Third Grade would like to welcome all their new students! We have had a great start to the year! Please remember to have your child arrive to school on time and meet their Teacher in building 10 after they eat breakfast!
Fourth Grade
This year students will compete in a monthly math bee focusing on multiplication. Each month, four students will be selected to compete against the other fourth grade classes. At the end of the competition, there will be one winner and one runner up. Each is awarded with a certificate and a prize. At the end of the school year, there will be one last math bee. This math bee will have all the students who won and who were runner ups from the previous months. They will all compete against each other and there will be one final winner. This student will receive a trophy at the end of the school year with their award ceremony. Students are asked to participate, but it is not mandatory. Please encourage your child to give it a try and continue practicing multiplication facts at home! Students will see multiplication facts up to 12 x 12.
Fifth Grade
Fifth Grade is off to a great start. Learning is happening in every classroom, and we can’t wait to see the growth in the students, both personally and academically this year.
In Reading we are covering how to cite evidence from the text, while reading about the different Native American Tribe regions.
In Math, we are learning the standard algorithm for multiplication.
In Science, we are learning the Scientific Process. We are planning a hands-on learning activity in Science, and we are going to test and grow tomato plants in the classroom. We are asking for donations of 2 liter plastic bottles. If you have any at home, please send them in with your child to give to their teacher. We would greatly appreciate it!
We also want to make you aware of a few applications, through Vportal, that students can access at home to further support their learning in reading and math. These applications are Reading A-Z and IXL for Math. If you would like further information of accessing these please ask your child’s teacher.
Thank you for all your support!
