Adult and Community Education
"In The Know" 11/15/16
Workforce Advisory Scott Schnappauf along with 20 Adult Education students at Florida Southwestern State College Collier Campus last Tuesday!
A Message from the Leadership Team
Adult Education
Our adult education programs includes a range of instructional programs that help adults get the basic skills they need to be productive workers, family members, and citizens. These programs emphasize basic skills such as reading, writing, math, and English language competency. These adult education programs also help adult learners gain the knowledge and skills they need to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. Scott Schnappauf, Leo Mediavilla, Jack Staples and Jonah Nicosia are our workforce advisors who meet with students to help plan and transition students from our adult education programs to postsecondary education such as programs at Lorenzo Walker Technical College and Florida Southwester State College or to careers that are within their original field of study.
Community Education
Winter 1 & 2 Course Schedule will be out in a few weeks. Remember to pick up your copy and copies for your students in your Fall 2 classes.
Policy Reminder:
If a student chooses to cancel their registration prior to the start of class, there is a $10 cancellation fee. Prior vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. Please contact the office at (239) 377-1234 with any/refund withdraw requests. Once the class begins there are no refunds or vouchers. However, a student may transfer to another class or session. Refunds are not issued for missed classes and classes are not pro-rated if you sign up after a class has started.
Loraine is retiring after a number of years with Community Education. Her last day will be December 21. Keep an eye out for an invite to a celebration gathering.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES FROM BARBARA BELKOFF
Community organizations are a great place to find helpful resources, places that can help us with sometimes difficult situations. Community organizations depend on volunteers to help provide those resources. ONE of the very real ways to become part of a community is to become a volunteer within that community. You interact, speak and assist those living in your own backyard. Volunteering is a great way to practice our skills and also can be a great way to look for future employment.
So on a weekly basis I will share volunteer opportunities in Collier County.
ST. MATTHEWS HOUSE
St. Matthew’s House works to eliminate the elements of poverty at their base. Our homeless shelter and feeding ministry have opened their doors to countless lives without taking a day off in more than a quarter century.
Through our numerous programs, including the Justin’s Place Recovery Program, our ministry is able to initiate a second chance at life for many facing their toughest times. With established faith-based principles and dedication we’ve been able to see hundreds of individuals and families regain their independence.
