Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Subject Highlights:
Maths:
Mr Foreman has nominated 8A1 for an excellent lesson of Maths, everyone worked really well to complete all the tasks set.
Mr Jackson has nominated Year 12 students James and Rowan for their excellent progress in Further Mathematics this year. Also nominated are Year 8 students Alex B, Mirren, Alicja K, Chantal, Milan and Megan S for outstanding effort in Maths lessons
Mrs van der Lith has nominated 8B2 class for the way they approached the topic on Speed, Distance and Time. They have done an excellent job with the problem solving questions!
Mrs Wynn would like to acknowledge 8B3 and 7P who have had a challenging but productive year. Many have shown great resilience and progress throughout the year. This was enhanced by the students that completed their home on time every week. Special mentions in 8B3 to Sophie D, Harley W, Margarita M, Mirren O and Klaudia K and in 7P Anna C, Vlad C, Viktoria J and Dyllon H. 9A2 and 9C2 have both shown excellent progress this year with many superseding themselves. Mrs Wynn wishes them the best for next year. 10A2 have had an exciting start to KS4 and most have found the pace and work quite challenging but have persevered to show great strengths in individual topics. Mrs Wynn hopes this is continued into next year which will be just as challenging, but with great rewards.
Ms Adamska has nominated 9A1 for their enthusiasm and an outstanding effort in the lessons this year. It was a pleasure to teach you all! Year 10 students
Antoni M, Dominika D. and Veronica, Year 8 students Bradley, Lucas and Aurelia, and Year 7 student Ethan for excellent work in every lesson. Ms Adamska would also like to mention Year 12 students James and Rowan for outstanding contributions in their Further Maths lessons. Finally, Ms Adamska wishes Year 11 and 13 students fantastic results in GCSE and A Level Exams and the best of luck for the future!
Mr Lee has nominated 9C3 on their focused work on ratio and proportion and maintaining this commitment to learning right up to the end of term.
Miss Harrison has nominated Jorja, Kaiden, Robert and Harvey (8C2) for their fantastic work on speed, distance and time graphs. They grasped the fundamentals of speed distance time graphs and were then able to match descriptions of journeys with the corresponding graphs.
Miss Kaur would like to congratulate 8B1 for being so polite and hard working consistently all year.
Music:
Miss Patrick has made the following nominations this week:
Year 8 and 9 have took part in an end of year listening and appraising music quiz, which involves identifying a wide range of songs and pieces of music from 1970's to the present day. Each round focuses on a different aspect of music and it has been great to see students demonstrate their musical knowledge from what we have learnt in class, but also from the music they listen to outside of school!
The overall winners from each year group based on the total number of points are:
Year 8 - Apple Joice from 8TE Carmen, Diana and Sofia.
Year 9 - Magical Musicians from 9TE Mia-Brooke, Sarah, Penelope, Emma and Jennifer.
Humanities:
Mr Foreman has nominated 9CA History for excellent contributions in lesson and 9CO History for excellent contributions and answers to their lesson on the End of the Cold War.
Mrs Brook would like to congratulate Year 8 students Megan and Katie and Year 7 students, Alex, Theo, Nadia and Kai who have all passed their first aid theory test this week, well done for all their hard work and commitment towards their qualification.
Mrs Forbes has nominated Year 8 students Aaron, Corey and Cameron for their hard work in History this week. Their overall work on the round up for the year was outstanding.
DT:
Mr McCrory has nominated 9TA and 9TU who have been creating designs on Solidworks a Computer Aided Design Software normally used in industry. Mr McCrory has been very impressed with how resilient they have been with the software and how hard they have worked. Well done.
Computer Science:
Mrs MacLeod has made the following nominations this week:
Year 10 - Mrs Macleod’s Year 10D/CS1 students went onto a new topic a few weeks ago in Computer Science called “Data Representation.” They have been looking at “The Value of The Digits, and Place Value.” Students all joined in on the last lesson for a quiz they were in teams of 5. Students were testing their skills and knowledge against each other teams on Computer Science topics taught this year. All the teams did very well in recalling information that they have learned throughout the year. Well done to all of you! Good luck when you go into Year 11. Mrs MacLeod is positive you will all get the results that you deserve next year for your GCSE’s.
Year 9 - students have been completing an end of unit Summative Assessment for this term’s work on Representations – Going Audio Visual. Well done to the following groups of students for getting their assessments completed: Year 9SW/CS, 9CA/CS, 9TA/CS, 9TE/CS, and 9TU/CS. Good luck to all the students for Year 10.
Year 8 - Year 8 students have been completing an end of unit Summative Assessment for this term’s work on Media – Vector Graphics. Well done for completing their assessments! Good luck for Year 9.
Year 7 - students have been completing an end of unit Summative Assessment for this term’s work on Networks. Well done to 7CA/CS for completing their assessments! Good luck in Year 8.
PE:
Mr Clamp has nominated Year 10 student Kurtis for outstanding leadership during Sports Day. Also nominated are Kacper L for his excellent effort during Sports Science. Kacper has designed an outstanding fitness training programme and also designed his own fitness test for a sport of his choice and Thomas L for his commitment during PE and Sports Science this year.
Spanish:
Miss Adamska would like to say well done to Polish GCSE students for their fantastic effort in preparing for their GCSE Exam.
Science:
Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 10 student Isabella, Lucy, Zviko, Stas, Thomas and Bailey for their excellent contributions and effort in Physics lessons this year.
Mr Anglim has nominated 7CA for their amazing work researching and designing rockets in Science.
Miss Coulson has nominated Year 10 student Dylan C for his improved attitude to learning in Chemistry. Also nominated are Year 9 students Shalom and Kirat in Year 9 for making an excellent graphite structure when learning about the allotropes of carbon this week.
Mr Tanangonan has nominated Year 7 student Matei, Year 8 student Connor and Year 9 student Dominik for their enthusiasm and engagement in Science, as well as the interesting facts and questions they have asked Mr Tanangonan in Science lessons this week.
English:
Miss Duncan has nominated 7B1 for their work this term. We have been looking at Sherlock Holmes mysteries and this week have tried playing the detective ourselves in the case of The Speckled Bands. Here are some connections being made by Sylar. Additionally, I would like to say a huge thank you to 9C1 for their amazing work all year, but particularly for their kindness and maturity shown consistently when dealing with difficult topics. Their progress shows that when you work hard, you get results.
Mrs Brown has really enjoyed listening to 8BY's speaking and listening presentations this week. Students worked hard on their chosen ideas and we had some very interesting topics debated such as animal testing, computer viruses and who is the best footballer? Special credit goes to Josh T, Daisy, Ella, Ellie, Sophie for excellent research and persuasive ideas.
Miss Hogan has nominated 8AZ for their fantastic efforts at speech writing and for their confident delivery. Special mentions to Martyna Knafel, Sonia Simota, Ryan Whitelam, Lewis Williams, Ava Johnson and Veronica Prorok. Also nominated are 10A1 English for their achievements and hard work throughout the year. They are an absolute pleasure to teach.
Mr Toye has nominated Year 7 student Cameron D for an amazing attitude towards his English studies and general positive "can do" attitude. Also nominated is Year 9 student Dominik A for being a student who displays model attitudes towards learning and is always eager to develop and Year 10 students Kacper B and Keane E. Both students have shown tremendous capabilities in their learning; both have taken opportunities to independently improve and both strive for excellence.
