SAT & ACT @ PHS

Plainfield high school will host the SAT on March 5th and the ACT on April 9th. Students can register for the SAT at www.collegeboard.com and for the ACT at www.actstudent.org.

ZAPS Test Prep Seminars - Back at PHS!

ZAPS Test Prep Seminars @ PHS

PHS will host an SAT ZAPS Test Prep Seminar on February 8th & 9th and an ACT ZAPS Test Prep Seminar on March 7th & 8th. All sessions will be held from 6-8:30PM in the PHS LGI room. Cost for each seminar is $89.99.


In the five-hour ZAPS test-prep seminar, students will:
• Learn tips for improvement in all subtests
• Practice strategies to eliminate wrong answer choices
• Take shortened practice tests that mirror the actual testing experience
• Prepare to write a well-organized, persuasive essay
• Reduce test anxiety and gain confidence
• Receive a comprehensive Study Guide and 6 practice-test workouts per subtest

Study Smart! Seminar @ PHS

There will be a Study Smart! Seminar on February 9th at 3:00PM in the PHS LGI room! During this interactive sessions, students will learn tips on understanding their learning style, getting organized, effective note-taking skills, time management skills and how to reduce anxiety! The cost of the seminar is $49.99 and students can register by visiting www.doorwaytocollege.com/seminars.

FAFSA Day @ PHS: February 18, 2016

Questions about how to file the FAFSA? Would you like to have an expert help you complete it & interpret your results on the spot?
Come to PHS on February 18th, and work with experts from the National Center for College Costs. They will be here from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. to help!

College Goal Sunday - February 21, 2016

College Goal Sunday is a statewide program that provides FREE professional assistance for students and parents to complete the FAFSA. On February 21st at 2 p.m., financial aid professionals from colleges and universities all of the State of Indiana will volunteer their time at 42 College Goal Sunday sites to help complete the FAFSA.

College & Career Advisor - Extended Hours

Allison Spillane, PHS College & Career Advisor, is offering extended hours on Thursdays.

I will be available every Thursday from 3-6 p.m. to meet and answer questions for students and parents.

Not sure what to ask? Take a look at common topics covered for each grade level.

*Naviance will be covered for all grades
9th Grade - School & community involvement, introduction to resume building
10th Grade - Exploring career clusters, job-shadowing, continued resume building
11th Grade - Connecting extracurricular involvement to resume, college visits, career exploration, SAT/ACT
12th Grade - College application process, financial aid & scholarships, other post-secondary options for students not attending college, continued resume building and interview skills
