Annie Leibovitz

Portait Photographer

Anne Lou Leibovitz

Anne, called Annie was born on October 2nd 1949 in Waterbury Connecticut.

Her father was Lieutenant in the U.S Air Force, so Annie, and her 5 other siblings, were moved to the Philippines during the Vietnam War, and that is where she first began to take photos.

She attended the San Francisco Art Institute where she studied painting, and also continued to develop her photography skills.

Annie is a portrait photographer who strictly takes pictures of people. She has taken some pretty amazing pictures of many famous people such as Micheal Jackson, and also many different TV shows.

Annie had started out as a small photographer for Rolling Stones magazine, and then kept moving her way up to where she became one of the most famous photographers ever.

Annie has been awarded 2 awards. One being the Prince of Austria's Award for Communication, and the other the Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship.

Anne once said "When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I'd like to know them. Anyone I know I photograph." I think what she is saying is that she doesn't just take pictures of anybody, but she really wants to get to know them and their personality first.

Encyclopedia.com says that Annie is a photographer of famous people, who has became famous herself.

My opinion on Annie is that she truly cares about her work. She doesn't just take pictures because shes good at it, but because it is something that she truly cares about, and her work ethic really inspires me.
