COUNSELING SERVICES
College Fairs Online invites our scholars to a free virtual college fair for the western region of the United States! This fair is scheduled for Monday, January 28 through Saturday, February 2. Scholars can log on any time during this week and get information from many colleges. There is a question and answer section for the scholars to get answers directly from college representatives. If you are interested, please go to www.collegefairsonline.com and click on the students tab to register ASAP; you will receive an email the day before the fair starts.

Available to: High school seniors who are San Diego County Residents.

Bank of America Student Leader Internship Opportunity
As a Student Leader, you will participate in an eight-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization where you will learn first-hand about the needs of your community and the critical role nonprofits play. In addition, you will learn valuable civic, social and business leadership skills. Each Student Leader will attend the Student Leaders Summit held in Washington, D.C. where you will learn how government, business and the nonprofit sector work together to address critical community needs. To become a Student Leader, you must:
Currently be a junior or senior in high school
Be able to participate in an 8-week paid internship at a local nonprofit organization and work 35 hours a week
Be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship through the end of September 2019
Be able to participate in a week-long Student Leaders Summit in Washington, DC (July 8 - July 13, 2019) (All expenses paid. This week will be part of your 8-week experience.)
Be a student in good standing at your school
Obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, or school administrator.
Deadline: February 1, 2019

In this edWebinar this Thursday, January 17 at 11 am, the following information will be shared to help restore the connection between words and struggling readers: why reading is so hard for struggling readers; the importance of word exposure and what it means for lifelong success; when to use words at a student’s decoding level and when to use words at their cognitive level; and how to bring the right words to scholars that inspire continued learning.
