Woodview Music Program/ Family Night
Thank you to all who attended our Woodview Music Program & Family Night this past Tuesday evening! It was wonderful to see all of you there participating in the fun family-centered activities. Not to mention, it was also awesome to see the students put on such a spectacular performance after all of their hard work/practice over the past several months! 🙂
Math
Next up, we will be diving into the study of lines, angles, 2-D figures and symmetry!
Language Arts
This week in our Wonders curriculum, we focused on the genre of realistic fiction. During our lessons, we took a closer look at several touchstone texts that helped us to get a firm understanding of the key traits/characteristics that make the realistic fiction genre unique.
In the area of writing, each of the students began brainstorming a list of possible realistic fiction story topics and even got the chance to begin drafting their very own stories in this genre-of-focus!
Social Studies/Science
Recently, our class concluded our Social Studies unit focusing on the three branches of government and began our next Mystery Science unit: Waves of Sound. Early this week, we began discussing our various background knowledge/ ideas regarding sound, (i.e.. what it is and how we believe it is produced). Then today, they put their initial sound theories to the test and participated in a hands-on experiment where they constructed their own paper cup telephones and took turns listening for and creating sounds back and forth with their partners. It was so much fun watching this new learning in-action! :)
