Principal's Message:
Happy New Year Ridgeview Family,
I hope all of you had a great break and students are ready to hit the ground running for the New Year. I have a couple of reminders:
Final grades for Quarter 2 has been posted and can be located within Infinite Campus, Parent Portal. Go to the three lines in the upper left hand corner, click on documents, and select Report Cards.
Next week we will begin the Winter Diagnostic testing for iReady. This Winter Diagnostic helps us progress monitor students as we challenge them to achieve their very best and grow in their reading and math skills. The Reading Diagnostic will take place during your student's English class starting the week of January 9th. The Math Diagnostic will take place during their Math class in the following week of January 16th. Please encourage your students to take this diagnostic test seriously and to do their best.
Parents, please remind your student(s) to continue to adhere to the school expectations and student conduct to reflect respectful behavior to both peers, teachers and staff.
Pizza with the interim Principal, Mr. Henry Lee is happening on Wednesday Jan 11, 2023 at 5:30pm. If you would like to attend, please fill out the Google Form and RSVP using this link, Pizza with the Principal, or the QR code on our flier.
Lastly, as a gentle reminder, please remember when dropping off your student, to pull all the way down in the drop off line.
Thank you everyone for your hard work and dedication to our students.
Have a Happy New Year and Go Tigers!
Henry K Lee

DISTRICT OFFICE NEWS & UPDATES
Dear PLSD family,
As the weather in Ohio continues to get colder, I would like to share how the district will handle calamity days if in-person classes need to be canceled due to inclement weather. Calamity days this winter will be good old-fashioned snow days. Students will not be expected to learn virtually.
We strive to make the decision to delay or close by 5:30 a.m. or earlier so that we can notify radio and TV stations, post to the district website, and send electronic notices to emergency announcement subscribers.
Unusual weather conditions may force us to make the decision after this time. For that reason, parents and students are advised to stay tuned to major television and radio stations, as well as our website and e-communications notices, for updates.
Once a decision is made to delay or cancel, the information will be shared with parents and the media as quickly as possible. You can read more about calamity day procedures on our website at https://oh50010917.schoolwires.net/Page/98.
Please check the Infinite Campus portal to ensure that your contact information is accurate so that you will receive closing/delay notifications in a timely manner, and that you will receive the messages via your preferred method(s) of delivery (text, phone call, email, etc.).
Thank you!
Dr. Chris Briggs
PLSD Superintendent

COUNSELOR'S UPDATES & INFORMATION
Hot off the press… We just received the testing calendar. More to come in the next month or so, but we would like you to add the dates to your calendar so you can avoid scheduling appointments, trips, etc. during those days. We generally test during the first part of the day so please avoid scheduling your student out of school before 10:30 that day if possible. If they miss a testing day, they will have to make it up during class time and will be missing instruction. Thanks for supporting us in this.
Scheduling for next year starts in late January or early February.
Thanks,
Kris Owen, LPSC

PTO CONNECTION
Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2023 - we hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!
Just wanted to share some upcoming events for January and February (be sure to mark your calendars).
January 13th, we are hosting our Popcorn Fundraiser during all lunches! We received awesome feedback and will make this a monthly fundraiser for the rest of the school year and possibly into the next school year! Each bag is $1, so be sure to send a few extra bucks next Friday with your student!
With Valentine's Day around the corner, we want to do a candy sale on February 10th. Typically, we would do suckers, but this year we are getting Valentine's Day fruit snacks (Welch's). Each little bag offers the student the option to put a name on it to give to their "Valentine" or "Friend"! More details to come, also information will be on our Facebook page!
Final note, we are working on some additional fundraisers, such as, another Teen Night Dance (Winter Wonderland) with Chipotle, MOD Pizza and a few other restaurants. Keep an eye out for more details! Real quick note for the dance, once a date is finalized, there will be a limit of 300 students only! More to come once approved!
Be sure to follow us on Facebook at Ridgeview STEM Junior High PTO.
Have a great weekend Ridgeview Family and Friends.
Please be sure to join us and help out this school year, we are planning some great things and would love for you all to be involved.
If you have any questions feel free to message us on Facebook (be sure to like our page too) and or contact Kelly Martin at kelly.martin_rvjhpto@hotmail.com.

HELP Make Our Schools Safer
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to Pickerington Schools, local law enforcement agencies, and others, if necessary.
