Laissez les bons temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!)
Greetings Atholton Family --
C'mon -- you knew I had to get SOME French in! Lol!
I hope this message finds you enjoying the last few hours of the extended holiday weekend. It is hard to believe that our school year officially begins tomorrow! I know many say it has already begun, but if you are like me, the arrival of students in classrooms will always mark the official start to a school year. I plan to send out a weekly newsletter on either Sundays or Mondays to give you information regarding the upcoming week. This is the first installment.
The first week is always busy. I sent a link to the video to be shown in your first period class at 8am Tuesday morning. You can access the link here. Also, during second period, there will be a 9th Grade assembly to review expectations with students. One member from the administrative team will accompany me on visits to English classes of 10th and 11th graders. We will review the "new" expectations with them and answer any questions they may have. Finally, next Wednesday (9/12), the administration along with student services, will host the first Senior Kickoff. This half-day, in-school retreat, will take place from 10:10 - 2:10 and will consist of a series of rotations (similar to what the staff experienced this past Friday). The sessions will range from senior year specifics, college planning, and school expectations. More information to follow on this exciting event.
This week also brings our Back To School Night on Thursday, 9/6, at 6:30pm. The first half hour will host parents in the auditorium for a presentation. They will be dismissed to your classrooms beginning at 7pm. Please be prepared to greet them as they arrive. I have attached the schedule below.
I want to take this opportunity to say that I truly enjoyed "our" first eight days together. Spending time getting to know you and sharing things about me really helped me reconnect at Atholton. Thank you all so much for making my transition back home such a smooth one and for making Sam and Lisa feel welcomed as well. A special thank you to Eric Posner and the AHS Marching Band. From the HCPSS Kickoff to our New Student Orientation, Mr. Posner and his students have helped spread Raider spirit!
See you all tomorrow!
Robert
P.S.-- I promise all the newsletters won't be this long!
