Beef Project Meeting
There will be a beef project meeting on Feb 5, 6:30pm at the Extension Office. We will be discussing a central weigh-in for market beef, educational opportunities, and any possible showcase changes.
Market Beef ID Deadline February 15!
Market Beef and Dairy Steer ID deadline is Feb. 15. Dont forget to ID on time. As a reminder the first 10 ID tags are free for each Lyon County 4-Her!
Six Weeks Till Spring Independent Learning Kits
Concerned about finding activities during a rodent's possible extended winter forecast? Sign up for the six weeks till spring learning kits. Sign up to participate in some Groundhog Day-themed independent learning sessions. Each activity will include the primary supplies, instructions, and additional information to create for different projects/activities.
County Fundraiser and Delivery Date!
There is still time to sell products for our annual fundraiser! Did you meet your $250 goal? Delivery will be March 11 at the Extension Office

Cloverbud Connections Meeting Feb. 13, 2023
Welcome to the exciting world of 4-H and Cloverbud Connections! Youth ages K-2 and their parents are encouraged to attend this event. Our Lyon Co. Cloverbud meetings happen once a month. For February, we will meet on Mon. Feb. 13, 2023 from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM at the Marshall-Lyon Public Library in the Children's Center. We will be exploring the 4-H project areas of Expressive Arts and Communication as well as Civic Engagement and Leadership. Please RSVP by Fri., Feb. 10, 2023 by filling out one form per child participant.
Minimum of 8 participants to hold the event.

Ambassador Meeting for Feb. at 5:45pm
The meeting will be Feb 21 at the Lyon Co. Ext. office from 5:45pm-6:45pm. We will be packaging our crayons from our service project and if you attended BLU or TEEL I would love if you could share about it! There will also be some discussion about our summer plans and what the group would like to do for education and fun purposes.

Passport to 4-H Tasty Tuesdays: Foods from around the world
SWMN Animal Science Events
Do you take part in 4-H animal projects, or are you just curious about them? If so, the South West 4-H area has some great events planned for you. From the Junior Vet Camp to Down On the Farm for the cloverbuds, there are four excellent opportunities to get your hands dirty with animal-related projects. You will gain knowledge that may be used in your future employment, personal 4-H projects, project bowl or judging teams, and more. Remember, after the event, Lyon County 4-H will reimburse you for half of your registration cost!
“Snowscapes” 4-H Photography Challenge
Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer another statewide photography challenge open to youth in grades K-13.!
Select your best winter wonderland photo (with no or minimal editing) from the 2022-2023 4-H year and submit it with up to two (2) sentences that explain the photo! More information and rules for the challenge can be found at: Minnesota 4-H Snowscapes Photo Challenge | UMN Extension with rules available here.
Submit one (1) jpg or jpeg image and up to two (2) sentences that explain the photo to fourhphoto@umn.edu by 11:59 p.m. (CST) on January 31, 2023. Volunteer 4-H photography judges will provide feedback via a slideshow. Top photos will be recognized with a prize and random prize drawing winners will also receive a gift.

Inspiring Confidence in Leaders and Students BLU is an engaging leadership workshop full of practical exercises designed to help you find and develop your inner leader. Middle schoolers and high schoolers are welcome to join BLU. Or are you interested in developing your potential as a leader? Discover your calling at TEEL (Teens Engaged in Emerging Leadership) in February! Take leadership lessons from more experienced 4-H members and recent graduates. The price is $65, however, the county of Lyon will pay for $50 of your registration fee after you complete a "bring it back" form.
