Prestwick LEarns - Let's get Healthy and Help our school this January
Kids Heart Challenge is underway at Prestwick STEM! Log on to http://www2.heart.org/goto/PRESTWICK or download the app KIDS HEART CHALLENGE and take a heart healthy challenge yet! Students can earn the Heart Heroes when they raise donations that will help save lives! Students who raise at least $100 ONLINE will get a chance to SLIME one of the coaches OR a principal! #kidsheartchallenge #hearthero #AmericanHeartAssociation
Also another way to support our campus will be our Spring fundraiser with APEX. Our theme this year is GAMEON! It will begin right after the Heart Challenge wraps up. As in the past we will have tons of fun with a glow run for K-5 students and color battle for students who qualify in grades 6-8. Be on the look out for more information coming your way. All funds go to benefit our school as we support:
- Student incentives
- Add Sensory pathways for brain breaks
- Flexible furniture
- Additional indoor and outdoor recess items
Both fundraisers are optional so feel free to support one, both or neither! We are thankful for your ongoing support.
Staff Spotlight
This week our spotlight is on one of our amazing first grade teachers, Ms. Graves. Here is what she has to say about herself:
I am looking forward to this amazing journey with my class this year! It is my plan to provide the students with an educationally challenging and fun experience. My goal is to engage, equip and empower my students every day to reach their full potential during their 1st grade year.
I completed my Education degree at The University of Oklahoma (BOOMER SOONER) a Bachelors of Science in Education. Go Sooners! I am certified in ESL and endorsed in Gifted and Talented. I have been working in Little Elm for the past 15 years beginning at Hackberry Elementary and moving to Prestwick.
When I am not working I am enjoying family and friends. I am a proud mother of a daughter named Taylor and a son Blake. Taylor is working in the Frisco area and Blake is working in Abilene, Texas. I enjoy playing with my 2 dogs Finley, a yellow lab and a rescue from Hurricane Harvey named Harvey. He is a small 110 pound Great Pyrenees mix or what I call a Pyrodor. I love to spend my Saturdays watching college football.
