Duck-billed Platypus
The duck-billed platypus lays eggs but is not a reptile, but an egg laying mammal.
One thing that the males have that the females don't is a sting on their back legs!
Grey Crowned Crane
The Grey Crowned Crane is omnivorous and eats seeds as well as frogs, snakes and insects. They stay around gazelles and eat prey disturbed by them.
They get their name from the feathers on their head.
Blue tits
Blue tits live for 2 or 3 years. They are omnivorous and eat
caterpillars, seeds and meal worms.
When they make nests they either make them in a bird box or find a suitable place to make a nest.
Takahe
The Takahe is very rare because less than eighty are alive today! They nest in Tussock grass and eat it.
To keep their feathers clean they wash in lakes but when the lake freezes and it is winter life is hard.
Lady Bird (Lady Bug)
The larvae are good at hunting aphids, they are even better than the adults.
Stag
A Stag looks like a moose but is a male deer. Stags eat leaves and grass and fight over females and food Using their antlers.
