Santa Clara Clarion
Staying Connected, October 2
This past weekend, "we" decided to finally take some time to teach Brianda how to ride a bike. What should have been fun time turned in the background, supporting Brianda, turned into a .... tense time ... I kept trying to micromanage Celestine's teaching process. I thought I knew better. Where he should be teaching her, how, when, questioning everything ... but he was already working his plan in his timing. I apologized later, but regret how I acted and really missed the opportunity to make it more of a positive experience for all of us.
It's hard to let others have control sometimes. We start thinking about the way things should be and don't allow "the plan" to be "the plan". We end up making a mess - especially when we keep fighting against God's plan and timing as it unfolds in our life. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

Food Pantry Opening - September 29
Food Pantry Ministry Opportunity
The people who came enjoyed shopping for the items they actually wanted. We enjoyed meeting the new families and pray that they felt the love of God in their time of need.
Now that we've experienced the food pantry from start to finish, we're asking for this congregation's help to support if your schedule allows. We need:
1) Food stockers - taking food off of the pallets and placing on shelving or in cold storage and stocking boxes for client use from 11 - 12 pm. With more helpers, this can be faster. Note - the boxes can be heavy.
2) Registration - During pantry hours, 1 - 3 pm. Helping clients fill out simple registration form, look up clients in computer, and presenting.
3) Shoppers - During pantry hours, 1 - 3 pm. Walking through the pantry and grabbing items for the clients to put in their shopping bags according to family sizes.
4) Computer Input - Adding client information into database, printing out client pantry cards and laminating them. During or after pantry hours from 1 - 4 pm.
