OSAA Season 1

I have been asked many questions about why Clackamas High School is not doing anything in Season 1. The answer is:

Very few districts in the expanded Portland metro area have started in-person activities; West Linn, Lake Oswego, Lakeridge, and Tigard specifically, have not. Yes, there are schools that have started, and others waiting to make a decision. I assure you I am also eager to open up sports for our students.

Our district has prepared plans for Season 1. Activities are ready to utilize these when it is safe and responsible to do so. Not only are we concerned about the safety of our students and coaches, but our insurance provider will not cover COVID-19 related claims. We are continuing to monitor cases in our county and state closely.

Sun Glow Heating and Cooling Athlete of the Week

Our Athlete of the Week sponsor, Sun Glow Heating and Cooling once again have agreed to honor one of our athletes each week. Even though we are not playing yet, we felt it was important to recognize our athletes who have been an important part of Clackamas High School sports. Sun Glow Heating and Cooling senior nominees will have the opportunity to apply for the $3,000 Sun Glow Heating and Cooling Scholarship.

Check out this link that lists, all of the weekly winners.

Community-driven Acceptance Insurance to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Heisman High School Scholarship program

NEW YORK (Sept. 17, 2020)—The Heisman Trophy Trust and Acceptance Insurance, a leading provider of personal automobile insurance and other related products, today announced a new partnership between the two organizations to recognize High School student-athletes throughout the country for their academic and athletic achievements as well as their community service. As part of the partnership, Acceptance Insurance will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Heisman High School Scholarship program.

The Heisman High School Scholarship program extends the Heisman prestige to the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors by celebrating and rewarding outstanding male and female scholar-athletes who understand that the most important victories happen not only on the field but also in their schools and communities.

Big picture

Please Register Your Student-Athlete If They Will Play a Sport in 2020-21

Even though we will not begin our competition seasons until 2021, please register your child for the sport(s) they will be trying out for. We have opened Family ID for all 3 sports seasons, Fall, Winter, and Spring. If your child needs a new physical that will need to be submitted to the Athletic Department as well. The only thing you will not have to do at this time is to pay the user fee. Until we know for sure that we are going to compete we are not taking any money.

Cheer and Dance student-athletes please register on the FALL Link.

Eligibility for Activities and Athletics for 2020-21

Even though we do not have any athletics or activities taking place until after December 28th. I wanted to put out a reminder for all those who participate in sports or activities.

How does my child stay eligible?

  • They must be registered for 4 classes for each quarter.
  • They must pass 3 of the 4 classes each quarter.
  • They must be on track to graduate.
  • If your child did not complete a course from last spring they must get that course completed.

Seniors if you are thinking about graduating early, you WILL NOT be eligible to participate in sports or activities for this year.
