New Titles - Put One on Reserve!
We have loads of new books coming in every day! Some of the new fiction titles are: The Fault in Our Stars, The Divergent Series, and The Maze Runner. We have also received several non-fiction titles, including a series about pro wrestling, a hunting series (just in time for deer season!), and a series about natural disasters. Come visit our library and see the many titles we have to offer for your reading enjoyment. The new books are flying off the shelves, so put your favorite on reserve today!
Accelerated Reader News
We are off and running with our AR program! Each student has received an individual quarter reading goal based on his/her test scores from the AIMS Web assessment that was administered in August. Students are reading every day at school, and we have an AR Lab in the Library from 3:00 to 5:00 every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Students may come to relax and read on the comfortable seating in the library, or use one of the library computers to take an AR test. Parents, please encourage your children to read at home every day as well!
Author to Visit in January
We have an author coming to visit our Wildcats Library in January! Her name is J. K. Rowling and she is the author of the Harry Potter series of books. We are so excited about Ms. Rowling's visit, because she rarely makes personal appearances, so her visit will be extra special for our students! She will read to the elementary students and answer questions in the morning, and she will spend the afternoon in the middle school library visiting with students and answering questions about the writing process and her novels. What an honor that she has chosen to visit our school and community!
Library News
The library is open from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. We are closed for lunch from 10:50 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Students may visit any time throughout the day with teacher permission to check out a book, take an AR test, or work on class projects or research. We do have classes scheduled during the day, but students are always welcome at any time.
Our Book Fair is scheduled for the week of November 10-14, so it's time to start thinking about Christmas gifts! We will have hundreds of books for sale, as well as posters, pencils and lots of other fun items. Make a list, and don't forget your teacher! All classrooms would welcome new books. Proceeds will benefit the school library fund.
