2nd Semester Music
Purpose: To provide virtual students with an opportunity to have structured music offerings that extend learning and deepen connections with teachers.
Content: The focus of the virtual music sections in the second semester should be one of enrichment or extension of the students’ present grade music curriculum. These sections are not intended to be a preview of the next grade’s curriculum.
Format: Presentation of material and instruction should be asynchronous, using nearpod, flipgrid, youtube, quaver, or other resources that you are comfortable using. New learning resources should be provided to students a minimum of once per week, but as often as you would like and is appropriate for your students. Teachers should engage with students synchronously a minimum of once per week with the teacher choosing the format of engagement, such as open office hours, a synchronous lesson, online game play, or other means.
Feedback: Teachers should provide students with feedback on their work. This could take the form of flipgrid response, google meet interaction, or other means. Students should receive some sort of feedback a minimum of once per week.

Your child may already have had them at their 11 year old check up. If so please obtain a copy of those immunizations. If not, please make an appointment for your students to get these two immunizations. Once you have obtained copies of TDAP and MCV4, send them to Laurie Dobrowolski RN at E.H. WordMasters Challenge
A team representing E. H. Greene School achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 125,000 students annually. The sixth grade team from E.H. Greene scored an impressive 177 points out of a possible 200 in the first of three meets this year, placing ninth in the nation.
Competing in the very difficult Gold Division of the WordMasters Challenge™, Gabe Martin achieved outstanding results.
The WordMasters Challenge™ is an exercise in critical thinking that first encourages students to become familiar with a set of interesting new words (considerably harder than grade level), and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies expressing various kinds of logical relationships. Working to solve the analogies helps students learn to think both analytically and metaphorically.
All the best to the team as they prepare for their next WordMasters Challenge!

Greene School Yearbook - Uploading Photos and ordering information
We realize this has been a most challenging school year and we would like you to help us with our yearbook photos. We want to ensure that all of our Greene Students appear in the yearbook, and we would also like to show what student life has been like at the Greene School. If your student was not photographed during our two fall picture days, you may upload a portrait to a website that has been created just for Greene School photos. Please be sure to include the student's name, grade and homeroom. The website allows parents to upload photos directly to our photo "library." Also, if you have any photos of your student(s) engaging in school sponsored activities, you may also upload those photos as well. Once on the website, you will need to "choose a file", provide your email address, and fill in the required info. Here is the website:
https://images.memoryebooks.com/416174110
The website will be available until March 15, 2021. Thank you for your assistance in making the Greene School yearbook a memorable one!
Also, you will soon be able to order a 2020-2021 Greene School yearbook! Starting February 19th, the Jostens website will be "open" and you can place your order. As we get closer to that date, we will have more details and will provide the link for you to use. Ordering will close at the end of March.

PTO - New Year Volunteer Opportunities
If you are are interested in getting more involved in the Greene School and PTO this year, there are a few opportunities:
Most of our traditional PTO programs have had to be canceled this school year, but there are a few open Chair positions:
Wellness Week - Looking for one ore more parents who would be interested in planning and executing a plan for Wellness Week activities for Greene School students and staff.
Community Outreach - Planning and organizing drives or activities to benefit the less fortunate in our community, most recently providing a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon for teachers at Winton Woods Academy
Arts Alive - Are you passionate about the arts? Traditionally every other year the PTO sponsors a weeklong celebration of the arts by bringing in a plethora of various artists and performers during lunch. This year we are unable to conduct the program as we have in the past, but there is an opportunity to plan and execute something virtually.
