Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, collaboration
Mrs. Black students were reading and writing about the Day of the Dead in class and the Cardinal MakerSpace was invited to collaborate in making an alter for each class period. Students made tissue paper flowers to decorate the alter. We also made cut paper banners called Papel Picado for the alters. The creativity really showed up when everyone also made a paper mache sugar skull to be added to the memorabilia for the departed souls. We were super busy for three days here in the MakerSpace and we will top it all off with constructing the alters and photos will be taken for the whole class and for individual students. We will be sharing those photos in next weeks addition of the newsletter. So, stay tuned.
Here are a few photos from our adventure
