Lambs Ledger

October 2021

Message from the Principal, Jamie McCarthy

The data from the beginning of the year assessments are in and now we have hit the ground running! Our classrooms are focused, data driven, and fun! We have taken the time at the beginning of the year to build relationships and now it is time to dive into the standards and make progress.

I can't stress enough the importance of attendance. Making a solid effort to be on time and start a child's routine each and everyday (provided they are healthy) makes an immense difference. In the event your child is absent, please make sure you send in a handwritten note to your child's teacher. If your child is on quarantine, please make sure they join the class zoom and complete all of their work. We don't want our students to fall behind!

If you look at our school data on the CCSD COVID dashboard we are fairing very well during the pandemic. I am so proud of our school community for being compliant and viligent. It is working!!! Let's make sure that we keep it up so we can stay in school! Please remember to send your child to school with a mask.

Thank you for being a partner in your child's education. Together we can provide a rewarding experience for your student.

LES Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

This year each homeroom was assigned a country of Hispanic origin. The students decorated their classroom door and students have shared facts about their country on the news show.

Apple Coding

We are excited to announce that 4 of our homerooms will be piloting Apple Coding at Lambs. Ms. Solari, Ms. Forsberg, Mr. Feltman, and Ms. Bailey will all learn from Apple how to incorporate coding into the classroom. We will begin this new venture this month and be able to provide this innovation and skillset for our students. We hope to grow this initiative each year! Stay tuned to learn more!

4th and 5th grade clubs

Our fourth and fifth grade students will begin exploring interest areas, school service, and academic support at the end of each school day. We are excited to begin this new endeavor with our upper elementary students. It will provide the students choice to learn about Spanish, Creative Writing, Brain Teasers, Helping Others, Recycling, Art, Building an Art Portfolio, News Production, Sports, Running, and so much more! If you have a 4th or 5th grader, ask them about it, we will begin on Monday, October 4th.
