MWE Friday Focus
First Week of School, 2016-2017
Welcome Back!
Our Meet the Teacher event went very, very well.
It was sooooo great to see all of you -- and I don't know who is more excited about school starting - the staff or the students!!
We are looking forward to a great year, and will see you on Monday!
What to Expect the First Day
Our doors will open on 7:15 a.m. on the first day. We will have adults in several locations to be sure all of our students get to the right places.
If you are a returning family, and you have not picked up your name tag, we have pre-printed the name tags and they will be available in the front lobby for your convenience.
You are free to walk your child(ren) to class on the first day. We just ask that you are out of the classroom by 8:25 a.m., so that we can begin our day.
At 8:30 a.m., we will have our first PTA meeting in the cafeteria. Please join us to learn more about our school and especially about our PTA.
We will start preparing for dismissal earlier than normal, so that students are not rushed as they learn the end of the day routines.
Please know that our buses and day care vans may run late because we are the second school on their routes AND because of the construction.
Our car rider line also tends to run longer than it will during the year because many parents come pick up their children the first few days of school. It is not unusual for dismissal to take over an hour the first few days, when normally during the year we are finished in about 15 minutes.
As always, if you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We will keep in touch with you ....

MWE Transportation Tips
MORNINGS
Please wait until 7:30 a.m. (after the 1st day) to drop your child(ren) off in front of the school. Supervision by school personnel begins at 7:30 a.m.
We have a no cell phone use policy in our car rider line. Small children are often unpredictable and we believe parents should always be watchful.
Parents who drive through the car rider line:
- Stay in your car and have your child to exit on the curb side.
- Please pull up to the first pillar near the flagpole.
- Please do not block Memorial Greens (the street right next to MWE).
- Please do not pass other cars in the car rider line.
- The handicapped parking spaces are reserved for patrons with the appropriate sticker/tag
- There are two reserved spots for our auction winners.
Parents who are walking with their children:
- There will be police officers helping us with walkers crossing Memorial from Clear Springs.
- Students should WALK on the sidewalk not across the parking lot.
- Students on bicycles should WALK their bikes across the street AND on the sidewalk.
Parents who drive through the parking lot:
- The parking lot is not a drop off place for students.
- For your child’s safety, we ask that you walk your child completely across the car rider line.
Like we did last Spring, because of the construction,
we will not mark students tardy until @8:30 - depending on the traffic.
AFTERNOONS AT MEADOW WOOD
- Parents should pick students up in the car rider line ONLY.
- The parking lot should not be used for pickup.
- Memorial walkers should only walk on the sidewalk. No one should walk on the grass nor through the parking lot.
- Bike riders should WALK their bicycles on the sidewalk.
We will see you on Monday!!!
