Strategies for Engagement
Try a Game!
Lean In How to Play: Have students lean off the screen. Make statements such as, "Lean in if you like Holidays". Then anyone who likes Holidays would lean into the screen. You can then ask more inquisitive questions such as, "What is your favorite holiday". Have students share with each other. Continue with different statements to learn more about your students. | Categories How to Play: Have students pick a category (i.e.- animals, locations) and then have another student pick a letter of the alphabet. Set a timer for 1-2 minutes. Have students write down all the things they can think of in that category that starts with the given letter. For example- A is picked for animals, then students may list alligator, anteater, antelope, etc. Once the timer is up, have students tell their answers one at a time. If anyone matches, they all cross it out. If they have an answer no one else has, then they get a point. You can do one or many rounds of this. | Trivia Trivia is a great warm up or cool down game. You can have content trivia or random trivia. Click here to link to 101 Trivia Questions for Kids. Halloween and fall trivia is also fun at this time of year for the class! |
