Curriculum Focus
Reading- The students will complete their final DG of the marking period. They will be completing a review of dramas and chapters. The grade will focus on answering questions from an excerpt from a play as well as reading comprehension questions. The grade will be given Wednesday. Students who are up to date on their work will be able to enjoy a DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time Thursday.
Writing- The students’ final test grade will be completed next week. The students will be writing from a fictional character’s perspective in a short narrative. A spelling grade will also be taken from this piece.
Frontrow reading and writing assignments will be posted online Monday. Both are due Thursday. Please remember that submissions should be saved as a Word document prior to trying to save online through FrontRow.
Social Studies- In social studies next week, we will review the study guide for chapter eight on Monday with a test on Wednesday. Next up is chapter 9, which covers the 1950's.
Science- In science next week, we will test on matter, sum of parts, and physical/chemical changes on Tuesday. Our next unit is electricity and magnetism.
Math- In math next week, we will wrap up our study of measurement with a couple of lessons involving line plots. Then we will have a daily grade maybe as early as Wednesday, but more likely on Thursday the 10th. A cumulative geometry/measurement test will follow the week of the 14th. A study guide for that test will be handed out during this upcoming week.
I'd like to pass on another reminder that sixth grade math content is available on my eClass page and that all of my homeroom students and Mrs. Blankenship's students have access to this content. If you want to get a head start on the sixth grade math content, downloading these PDFs and working through them is a great idea. Send them in to me and I will check the work and provided additional support for your child.
