Red Ribbon Week
Monday: Team Up Against Drugs
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team shirt or jersey.
Family Discussions: Speak to them about what healthy friendships look like. Discuss reasons why people may turn to drugs and who they can talk to when they are having problems in their life.
Tuesday: Don’t Get Tied Up In Drugs!
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear tie dye or your best 80’s attire.
Family Discussions: Encourage positive hobbies and interests and the importance of being involved in the community, and finding purpose in their everyday lives that will encourage them to stay drug free.
Wednesday: Drugs are wack!
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear wacky socks and a hat or creative hair style.
Family Discussions: Communicate to your children that they can always come to you if they have a problem, made a mistake or have questions about drugs.
Thursday: We are Red-y to be drug free!
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear Red or their favorite hero or superhero costume. Please no scary costumes or halloween masks.
Family Time: Talk to your children about what to do if they are offered drugs and who to go to for help.
Friday: Friends don’t let friends do drugs!
Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to be a twin and dress like a friend.
Family Discussions: Talk to your children about what to do if they are offered drugs and who to go to for help. Spend time this weekend as a family!

SHSU Helpline. We Listen. (936) 294-4111
Need someone to talk to? The SHSU Helpline is an after-hours mental health services offered by the Counseling Center. The SHSU Helpline is available to students and the community, and it is a free resource. The SHSU Helpline operates on Monday-Thursday from 4-9 pm.
Trained volunteers are available to offer a listening ear, support and community crisis resources in a confidential and nonjudgmental way. The SHSU Helpline volunters are available to help you talk through many life concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, a break-up, academic concerns, and more.
All Helpline volunteers are required to go through training, receive on-going supervision and continuing education with mental health clinicians at the Counseling Center. Calls are confidential.

TCHATT - Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine
TCHATT Process 1. Complete initial phone call and consent with the THCATT coordinator over the phone 2.Behavioral Health intake with our team, you, and your child(ren)- up to 2 hours 3.Receive up to 4 free therapy sessions with our behavioral health team- ranging from 30-90 minutes.
