From Script to Screen
Advance film training and production
Create a short film and enhance your filmmaking skills
Write, shoot, edit, and produce a short film worthy of a college reel and the film festival circuit. Debbie Drew from Cutaway Productions, cinematographer David McClellan, and former LA production company associate Leah Fein will educate and mentor students in the process of creating an original film. In addition, students will have access to industry professionals including Emmy Award winning writer and director Ken Levine. Meetings will take place on Sundays from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at StoryArk, 402 N Main Street, #350, Stillwater. Each week will cover a different facet of film guiding students to completing their final project.
Week 1 - June 2: Concept to Screenplay
Week 2 - June 9: Screenplay to Revision
Week 3 - June 16: Storyboard and Production
Week 4 - June 23: Motion Capture
Week 5 - June 30: Edit 1 - Learn
Week 6 - July 7: Edit 2 - Show
Week 7 - July 14: Final Cut
Week 8 - July 21: Prepare for Screening
Participants can choose to create either a two minute film - either documentary or narrative. Students will be expected to work on their project outside of meeting times and will receive feedback throughout the process. The final film will be considered in the StoryArk Short Film Competition as juried by the professional filmmakers with a $100 prize to the winner. The film will also enjoy a public screening at the StoryArk Festival the evening of July 24th at the Phipps Center for the Arts.
StoryArk is pleased to collaborate with Cutaway, Stillwater Area High School’s student production company, to make this project possible. Bring your own camera if you have it, but equipment will be provided for those students who need it. Interested participants will also have the opportunity to become a part of StoryArk's student production company which gives them future access to equipment and opportunities to earn income producing films. Tuition is $175 for the session, but no student is ever turned away for financial reasons. Contact steph@storyark.org for more details.
