There will be a congregational meeting following the 10AM service on Sunday, May 2nd. Please plan to attend.

Family Promise f/n/a Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, food and emergency services to families with children facing the crisis of homelessness. The Family Promise program has continued to serve the Athens community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Trinity Lutheran is a supporting congregation for this program.

Family Promise is in need of the following items: paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags (the large 33 gallon as well as the tall kitchen bags), laundry detergent, paper plates, cups and plastic utensils, cleaning supplies (disinfectant wipes, dish washing soap, sponges and sheets (twin or queen size).

I will be collecting these items for Family Promise until May 2. Please bring in these items and put them in the Gathering Room. The Family Promise office is still closed, so you will not be able to take your items directly to them. On May 2 there will be a collection basket in the Gathering Room if you would like to donate money to Family Promise. If you have any questions, please contact Jo-Ann Thorne 706-202-2740.

Dear Trinity Family,

The CDC has released updated guidelines regarding the safety of singing in a chorus. For fully-vaccinated, masked individuals it is likely to be safe now. With this new information, I feel confident that we can return to musical activities such as choir and handbells, as long as we remain masked during rehearsals and preferably if everyone has been vaccinated. Singing with a mask is not particularly comfortable but it is possible and we'll start slow to get back into the habit. The main thing I need to know is who is interested in participating, so I can find music appropriate to the size of the ensemble. For choir rehearsals, we may plan to rehearse outside under the breezeway for added safety, depending on the numbers and comfort level of those involved.

If you have been in choir or handbells in the past, or are interested in being involved in either one now, please contact me at so I can plan accordingly and so that I will have your contact information for future updates. I am so excited about making music with you again!

(Here is the update from the CDC, if you are interested:

In peace,
