Student Item Pick Up -- Happening this Week / Recolección de artículos del estudiante: esta semana
Student Item Pick Up / Recogida de artículos del alumno
Schedule for student item pick-up at EGMS:
Tuesday May 12th from 1 pm to 7 pm
Wednesday May 13th from 9 am to 4 pm
We have organized two days with varied hours to provide flexible pick up opportunities for all families. Feel free to coordinate with other families/friends/neighbors to have one person pick up the belongings of multiple students. Because of the number of students, it may cause a line of cars. Please be patient and feel free to leave and come back if it is too crowded. We are only going to be exchanging locker contents, PE locker contents, and student medications. We will not be able to hunt for anything else that may be hidden in our school somewhere, nor will we be able to allow other people in the building to search for items. Now is also a time to return any library books, textbooks, or novels from Language Arts that you are not using.
We are asking families to come to the back of the school and use the one way bus lane to pick up your child's belongings. Traffic will flow the best if all families enter the school grounds from Spruce Avenue or 13th street. This is the small frontage road that runs parallel to the football field. All families will then exit the property via NW Upas Ave. Please refer to the following map for directions.
In order to maintain social distancing and state guidelines, we ask that everyone maintain a minimum of 6 feet between themselves and the EGMS team. Please stop when you get to the cones on the south side of the parking lot, closest to the football field and someone will be there to take the names of the students you are picking up for. You may have the names written on paper held up in the window of the car or you may roll down your window and share the names. The team member will radio the names to a team in the commons who will collect the student belongings and deliver to the curb. A member of your family will collect the bag or bags and load them in the car. If you have items to return to the school there will be a drop off box on the curb. Although we have all student belongings organized, it may take a few minutes to find and deliver the items. Thank you for your patience and kindness during this process.
ALL ITEMS NOT PICKED UP THIS WEEK WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE FALL WHEN SCHOOLS REOPEN.
Hotspots will be here soon / Los puntos calientes estarán aquí pronto

Middle School Grading Update
Q: What happens to Incompletes (INC) for 8th grade students at the end of the school year?
Q: How long will students have to work to turn an Incomplete into a Pass next school year?
A: Incompletes given during the period of school closure for COVID-19 will turn into a No Grade at the end of the first trimester of the 2020-21 school year if the student has not yet met the essential learning expectations by that time.
Essential Learning can be demonstrated through:
Passing the next term in the course sequence during term 1
Demonstrating essential learning on a performance task
Demonstrating essential learning on project that can be multi-disciplinary
A:
School teachers, counselors, and administrators will take a proactive approach for students in advanced classes who are currently earning an INC grade.
Guidance will be given to the student and parent so they can make an informed decision about whether to continue to pursue the high school credit and what the appropriate course may be for the following school year.
School counselors will keep track of what high school credits the middle school student has earned in order to clarify high school course placement for the 20-21 school year.
Teachers and administrators will review parent letters and follow up with phone calls as needed to help parents make the best decision for their student for high school placement.
