What is going on at School?
What we are learning this coming week..
.
Math: The focus this week will be a measurement. Students will identify concrete models that approximate standard units of length. Before we begin our planned activities and lessons for length we will be reviewing for a district math benchmark. Monday and Tuesday students will complete a teacher created review and on Wednesday students will be the actual assessment. Daily students will be problem solving as they relate concepts to everyday life experiences.
Science: The spotlight in science will be life cycles. Students will observe, record, and compare distinct changes that some insects undergo in their life cycle. Students will study butterflies, mealworms, crickets and grasshoppers. We will be doing several hands on activities to demonstrate the life cycles. We received our butterflies in the mail yesterday! We are watching and observing, waiting for our dormant caterpillars to WAKE UP! Get busy and EAT! It will probably happen over the weekend. L
Reading: The big idea in reading will be main idea. Students will identify the main idea in text and distinguish it from the topic. Near the end of the week, students will be focusing on nonfiction text and a reader's response menu.
Writing: In writing students will be working on persuasive letters.

Thank you very much for spoiling me this week! I really appreciate all your love and support this year! I can honestly say, this is my best class in 13 years. I love and admire each of your children. Can I keep them? In second? I have already been to 3rd. The Staar test took years off my life. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart! What’s next week? LOL! Just kidding!
I appreciate your cards, gift cards, flowers, cookies, lunches, toys, and supplies! Most of the gift cards were placed in a huge basket along with cards. I do not know who contributed what, so please do not be offended if you did not receive a thank you note. It was all placed in a beautiful basket. It is all greatly appreciated.
I want to personally Thank Mrs. Divino and Mrs. Proulx for organizing, partying, ordering, decorating, distributing and helping me this year! It takes a village! Room Mother’s have a special place in a teacher’s heart! We love you! We could not pull it off without you!
Have a great week.
