Cougar Courier

Greetings from Dr. Garcia!

February 29, 2020

Tomorrow is the first day of March, and we are a little over two weeks away until the end of quarter three. This is a good time to check in with your scholars and their teachers to see how they are progressing. Parent teacher conferences will be March 19th from 5:00-7:30 pm, and it is also the Panera Give Back Night. We hope you will join us for both events.

We celebrated the 120th day of school in 1st grade this week. Our scholars celebrated by bringing in different items, reading 120 books, making decorations and talking about the importance of all they have learned this year. It was a wonderful day for our 1st grade scholars!

Our girls basketball team defeated the Jackson Tigers and South Bend Career Academy this week, and our wrestling team competed well against LaSalle and Dickinson on Wednesday. Our girls have a bye this week and our wrestling team is at home against LaSalle and Jefferson. We hope you can join us on Wednesday!

Monday is Read Across America Day, and we are excited to welcome Terry McFadden to CIA on Monday at 10:00 am. Terry McFadden, from WNDU, will read to the K-5 students and introduce our month long reading challenge!

Mark your calendars for our spring book fair which will take place from March 16-20th. It is a great way to celebrate Read Across America Month and to highlight the importance of reading.

Lastly, I want to inform everyone that Mr. Jones has accepted a position as the Restorative Justice Coach and Family Support Coordinator at Navarre. While we will miss him deeply, this is an amazing promotion and opportunity for Mr. Jones. His last day will be Friday, March 6th. Please make sure you take the time to thank him and wish him well if you see him. He promises to visit and wants everyone to know it's a great day to be a Cougar!.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and takes time to enjoy the sun shine and warm weather.

Blessings,

Dr. Garcia
