Marvelous Monster Dash!
The Fun Run took place on Friday, October 5th and we raised a total of just
over $36,000.00! WOW!! Thank you to all the Glendale families for being part of this great event! With our earnings, we will be purchasing flexible furniture for classrooms. PTC is also looking into a water filtration system in the hallways for water bottles.
As part of the student reward for meeting and EXCEEDING the Fun Run fundraising goal, students will get the chance to color a select number of teachers/staff members' hair in front of the whole school at the November All School Meeting. (This is spray-in hair color, NOT permanent!) Thank you to the teachers and parent volunteers for helping make it a success for the students!
Yearbook Cover Contest
The annual Glendale Yearbook Cover Contest has begun and is open to any student attending Glendale Elementary in grades 2-5. The winners will receive their drawings featured on either the front or back cover. Mrs. Guswiler will be introducing the cover contest in Art starting this week. All submissions are due no later than 3:50 on Monday, November 12, 2018 to Mr. Deris (room 211) in the bin on the circle table in the hallway. Yearbook cover submissions will not be returned. Details and past examples can be found on the link below:

C.A.R.E.S
Students at Glendale will be recognized for showing the CARES skills through out the school year. Adults can recognize students who are doing an excellent job demonstrating: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy or Self control. Students who are recognized will be honored with a certificate, have their names announced at an All School Meeting, will be showcased in the Glendale monthly newsletter and will get to enjoy a cinnamon roll breakfast with Mrs. Molitor & the other recipients during morning meeting.
Congratulations to all of the students that received this award for September & October! The next C.A.R.E.S. breakfast will be Wednesday, November 7th.
SPAN
SPAN is the Synergy/SAGE Parent Action Network. We are also known as the Prior Lake-Savage Chapter of the MN Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT). Our mission is to support and advocate for academically advanced students, their parents, and their educators.
Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday November 27 at 7pm in the WestWood Elementary Media Center (5370 WestWood Dr. SE; Prior Lake, MN 55372), featuring an MCGT-sponsored CHAT night. Facilitator Pam McDonald, District 196 gifted specialist, will lead us through a discussion about asynchronous development in gifted kids.
We will also be hosting several informal “coffee” meetings toward the end of November/beginning of December where anyone can stop by to talk with SPAN Board members who have “been there” about any questions/concerns you have related to your child. Be sure to sign up for our email list to be notified about the coffee meetings and other meeting dates. If you have questions or would like to be placed on our email list, please email Apryl at span.priorlake@gmail.com. See all of our meeting dates on our website www.mcgt.net/priorlake .
