Dryden Dolphin Splash Newsletter
June 1, 2020
Hello! This is the last Dryden Dolphin Splash newsletter until August!
Here is the link to the landing page learning & Field Day activities for the week. As we shared earlier, teachers are participating in professional development and planning this week, in anticipation of the 2020-21 school year, so they will not be sending daily emails to students and families.
Well, after over nine weeks of remote learning, here we are at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year! Can you believe it? While this remote learning experience and living in this pandemic has been challenging, we are so proud of our students, staff and families for rising to the occasion, persevering and working together! We are aware that parents and educators have had to make big sacrifices in order to support our students' learning at home, and we are so grateful for our partnership. We're confident that we will continue to improve on these experiences and adapt to whatever comes our way during the 2020-21 school year.
We wish our families time to unplug, relax, play and enjoy time outside over the summer break! We look forward to seeing you at the Reverse Parade on June 3, and then connecting with you again in August!

SAFETY
We ask that you drive slowly and do not stop the car line to talk.
Please remain in your car at all times.
Do not pass items to the teachers, not even notes.
Staff will be following social distance guidelines both with each other and the cars coming through.
Stay in the car line the entire time.
DIRECTIONS
Please do not arrive before 10:30 am so staff members have a chance to set up safely.
All cars will enter and exit through the bus lane of the main parking lot, just like morning drop-off. (See map below.)
We are asking for families to stagger their arrival times to help lessen any backups along the residential roads leading up to Dryden.
Families with 5th Grade Students → 10:30 - 10:45
Families without 5th Grade Students
Last names A - H → 10:45 - 11:00
Last names I - P → 11:00 - 11:15
Last names R - Z → 11:15 - 11:30
We will be on site until 12:00 pm or until all cars have exited the lot.
Teachers and staff will be stationed along the sidewalk of the bus lane, socially distanced from each other and your vehicles. We ask for your patience as cars are moving through the drive, and follow the above timeline to the best of your ability. Again, please make sure that everyone stays in the vehicle. We are really looking forward to seeing so many of you in person!
Summer Keyboarding Challenge
Please encourage your child(ren) to participate in the Summer Keyboarding Challenge. This is an extremely beneficial skill that students will use going forward. An email with each student’s username and password for the Typing Training site will be sent to parents the week of June 1. The link below will provide more information:
Remote Learning Landing Pages
We received a few requests to keep our Landing Pages up for families to access throughout the summer. Here they are for your reference:
Thank You from the Outgoing PTA President
Thank you so much, Dryden families and staff, for your enthusiasm and support this year! I've enjoyed serving as your PTA President, and my best memories are all focused around interacting with and meeting so many new parents and students. Volunteering at Dryden is such a rewarding experience, and there is always room for one more. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the PTA, and I hope to see you all, in person, very soon. If you'd like to get involved but aren't quite sure how, please visit the Dryden PTA Website or contact any of the Board members or next year's PTA President, Rosann Murray.
I wish you a happy, relaxing, and healthy summer,
Liz Nierman
Volunteer Opportunities for Next Year
Dryden Volunteers: Because we're not sure what's happening in our schedules next week, much less next year, we are going to take a pause and wait to send out the Volunteer Opportunities Sign Up and the Room Representative Sign Up at the end of the summer. We'll let you know before that comes out.
4th Grade Parents: We are, however, going to send out the 5th Grade Volunteer Opportunities Sign Up on Wednesday, June 3 at 7:00 pm. Many of the 5th grade activities start right away, and we'd love to have those volunteers in place.

School Supply Packs
It's time to order your 2020-2021 School Supply Packs! We’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered with a new LOCAL company this year, Shane's Kits!
What is staying the same? Our supplier passes quantity discount savings along to us, so the kits are usually less expensive, more accurate, and more convenient than shopping on your own. And custom name labels for your supplies are included with each pack.
What has changed? You can now ship your kit directly to Dryden AND pay no shipping fee! If you order by June 12, your kits will be shipped directly to Dryden with no shipping costs. The packs will be distributed to each child's classroom - we'll let you know these details closer to next Fall - but no more struggling to school on the first day with that overflowing backpack!
What else? Mid-summer orders! If you miss the June 12 deadline, you can still order through much of the summer! Orders placed between June 13 and through July 15 will be delivered to your home. The price for the kits are the same, with a shipping fee of $9.95 per order (not per kit). Kits should arrive within 10-15 business days or sooner.
To order, click here and enter Dryden School code DRY25. Be sure to select the grade your child will be in next year. If you're having trouble placing your order, try a different browser, device, or try clearing your cache. We've gotten feedback that other sites use cookies that can interfere with the checkout process.
