A Message from Dr. Lambert
Happy Friday,
I hope this edition of the Bush Banner finds you well. We have completed the first week of the second grading period. This year, that means we have a large group of students who have completed their first week of in-person instruction. While the dismissal lines have been a little longer than the beginning of the year, I am so impressed with the work of the Bush staff to make dismissal a smooth process. We have changed a few things in the process, and, while we continue to be better each day than we were the day before, I know that the changes we have made have already improved our dismissal process from last year. Thank you so much for your part in improving the process.
Today is also a special day because we honored our Paw-some Award recipients in the area of responsibility. We could not have our assembly as we would have in the past due to our COVID mitigation procedures, but each teacher did announce the recipient to the class. We also posted videos of teachers announcing each recipient to our Facebook page. Please take a moment to check out the videos at https://www.facebook.com/BushCISD.
As we move through the school year, I hope that you will reach out if you have questions about anything at Bush. I'd also love to hear any great ideas you have about how we can be better. I heard some really good ones from a parent a couple of days ago. You can always reach me by calling the school (936-709-1600) or by emailing me (jlambert@conroeisd.net). I'd also like to know what you think about the idea of setting up Zoom meetings throughout the year for opportunities to talk with me and with staff members on various topics. We would limit the size of the call so that we could have conversations. If you have thoughts about this (including topics to address and times to schedule), please let me know.
I hope each of you has time to do something you enjoy over this weekend.
Take good care,
Dr. Jarod Lambert
Principal

Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing
Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January for both remote and in-person platforms, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 18. You may request a referral form from the front office or the Assistant Principal. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

I recently completed counseling lessons for all of our in-person students and “zoomed” with some of our online classes. The focus of these lessons was identifying feelings, self-regulation when we have uncomfortable emotions and coping skills. These lessons are posted in my virtual counseling office.

Boosterthon Dance Fit Starts Monday October 19-30

We’re only 3 days away from the start of our Bush Bobcat Dance Fit Boosterthon! Our goal is to raise $27,000 for Bush Program Expenses and Campus Enhancements such as Student Enrichment, Student and Teacher Scholarships, Technology to Enhance Remote Learning, Classroom Libraries. Funds will also be used for any unexpected expenses that may arise to best serve our students and teachers during these unique times.
Here is a quick video overview of our fundraising program.
Also, here are a few things to know about this important fundraiser:
All families can support our school by either donating, sharing on funrun.com, or both. Students can receive rewards when parents share from funrun.com.
All students get to participate in the Event day, regardless of financial participation.
This fundraiser comes with an incredible character development program for students where they’ll be learning about the importance of teamwork, care, courage, grit and celebration.
Also, did you know that our fundraiser has corporate matching?! Click here to search your employer’s name to see if they’ll match your donation. Then, when you give on funrun.com, you can select your employer and it could DOUBLE YOUR DONATION to our school!
We are working hard to make this fundraiser safe, fun, and successful for everyone!
