Teaching Students About our New Code
This March students in all elementary schools went deeper into learning about our new Code of Character, Conduct, and Support. In January, an overview of the Code was shared with students and families. This month we reviewed additional positive mindsets from the Code and taught students about their rights and responsibilities. We ended our session by reminding one and all that our Code is based on the core concept of equity.
Attached below are the slides we used to teach students, with a voice over to explain to parents/caregivers. We have included a link to our Code in all three languages, as well as an excerpt from the Code that includes parent and caregiver responsibilities. Lastly, there is a link to our Learning and Life Competencies. These are the district wide social emotional learning competencies that support all aspects of the Code.
Thank you for being our partners in this important work.
