Miss Courtney and Miss Amy's Class
THIS WEEK...
We also got to go on the playground today. Everyone had a lot of energy that they needed to run, jump, monkey bar, and yell out! It was a good day.
On Tuesday, we read the story that lost the day before, "Cows Can't Fly". Then, we did the Chicken Dance. We did it fast, we did it slow and we did it normal speed! Have your kids show you, it is hysterical! Then we made a chicken craft. We are really working on trying to write our names and understanding that the symbols are the letters in our names. Please continue to work on this at home with your kiddos but in all fun ways, not necessarily pencil to paper (shaving cream, rice, sand, magnetic letters, dot markers, etc.) After our chicken dance, craft and snack, Red the Hen came to visit our class! Declan's mom was nice enough to bring in their pet hen to visit our classroom! The kids LOVED petting her, trying to feed her and talking about all the parts and her eggs! It was such a cool experience! Thanks Mrs. Declan!
Wednesday was a bit of a crazy day! We had an extended choice time that consisted of an obstacle course, puzzles, Miss Becky center and drawing on white boards! Again, they needed to take off their shoes and socks to participate in the obstacle course and put them back on after. The drawing table worked on identifying numbers and letters, drawing a person, and writing our names. Each student had an individual goal during this choice time and it was interesting to see how far so many of them are already coming! Miss Becky worked with students on following directions to identify farm animals. After choice time Miss Becky read us a book called "Maya's Voice". We tried to do a tummy time, but some of our friends had some trouble and the book got a bit overlooked! Miss Becky will try again next week! Then, we sang "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb". After our songs, we all went back to the tables to paint with our pointer fingers. The kiddos loved getting messy. We also had some play centers open, with farm animals, barns and had so much fun pretend playing. Some friends played in sand. Other friends played with our new collections of nuts, bolts and keys! It was an exciting day!
On Thursday, we had too much fun! From minute one, kiddos were giving Miss Amy birthday cards, fun gifts and awesome hugs!!! Choice time consisted of making horses with Miss Jean, coloring giraffe pictures for Miss Amy's birthday and playing in shaving cream! Some friends enjoyed playing an ABC game. It was such a fun start to our day. After we sang a hello song, we had a Miss Kelly gluing lesson. We each got a glue stick, a bunch of little papers that we ripped up last week, and we learned to glue small pieces onto our small farm animal cut outs. Some of us didn't love this activity as it was a bit difficult, while others loved it and sped through it! We are still continuing to learn the basics of cutting and gluing, but we are so proud of the progress our little friends have made this year! We then had a GREAT surprise birthday party for Miss Amy with lots of goodies thanks to you awesome parents! She was so surprised and loved each and every touch! After our delicious snack, we went next door to Mrs. Strohl's classroom. We will go there some Wednesdays to play with our friends in that class. We learned each other's names and we acted out a silly Halloween song! It was so much fun! Before the end of the day, we went on a nature walk and we found and sorted red, yellow and green leaves and we found sticks that were just the right size to fit in our container. The kids had so much fun and so did the adults!
A note from Miss Amy: Thank you to each and every parent for sending in the beautiful cards, gifts, pictures, food and most importantly your beautiful, smiley, exciting kiddos each and every day! I have said it once, twice and a bajillion more times that I am VERY lucky to have the very best job in the entire world! Thank you to all of you for letting me spend each and every day with your little ones and for spoiling me silly on my birthday!
Friday was our field trip...we will have many pictures to share in a newsletter after Miss Amy's mom helps us upload them all! :) Thank you all for making it such a special day!
