Fire Drill Feedback
We did a great job on our first fire drill this past Tuesday. There were only three rooms that did not have their doors closed (one was the teacher's prep room). Closing classroom doors helps with fire containment, so please remember to close any classroom doors on your way out. A couple areas for us to work on are (1) making sure that students are taking drills seriously (one officer mentioned that students were "mingling too much" when outside) and (2) clear communication for the "all clear."
One suggestion for keeping your class together is to organize students in a line when you are outside. This keeps students together and allows you to make sure that you have everyone on your roster. For communication, after visually checking to make sure that you have your whole class, let the captain for your area know that you are outside and that you class is all set. We are going to work on a "roll call" for all captains to communicate the "all clear" for their area over the radio. We will share this information with the team captains shortly and will practice it during our next fire drill, which will happen sometime in the next few weeks (unannounced).
Attendance Reminder
Also, please remember that period attendance needs to be updated by 11:59 PM on each day - this information is used for the district's time on learning report. Thank you!
School Council
The School Council assists the principal by reviewing the school building budget, developing the school improvement plan, and making recommendations on school policy. I am seeking two teacher representatives for the school council. If there are more than two people interested, we will need to hold an election. I plan to hold meetings after school, once a month, from 3:00-4:00 PM. If you are interested, please let me know.
Additionally, I am looking for two responsible students (one 7th grader and one 8th grader) to participate as student representatives on the school council. If you know of a good candidate, please let me know their name.
