Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
Happy November! I am proud to share with you that Virginia Lake has been awarded a grant through Enchanted Backpacks. In a few weeks our school will receive school supplies, coats, recess equipment, games for indoor recess, books and more. The retail value of the items is over $40,000. We will be distributing items to our students, teachers and library after Thanksgiving break. For more information about the grant, please visit https://www.enchantedbackpack.org/ A special thank you to Mr. Bubaris for his partnership in obtaining the grant for our community.
We have partnered with the Basket Brigade Program for Thanksgiving. If your family is in need of food for Thanksgiving dinner, please contact our school office.
Our PTA has planned it’s next Dine and Share. Please join us at Culvers on Tuesday November 16th from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. The event is drive-through only. We appreciate the community's support. The PTA has raised hundreds of dollars for our students!
A friendly reminder that cell phones should remain off and out of sight ( in a backpack or locker) if a student brings the device to school. Having a cell phone one during the day is a distraction in the learning environment. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.
With Kindest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal

All electronic devices must be kept powered off and out of sight during the regular school day unless use of the device is provided in a student’s individualized education program (IEP) or it is needed in an emergency that threatens the safety of students, staff, or other individuals.
Concurrent Learning
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to offer concurrent learning to our in-person students if/when they have been directed to quarantine if they are deemed a close contact to a positive individual or to go into isolation due to testing positive for COVID-19. We will ONLY allow students who have medical documentation or have been directed by the school nurse and approved by the building principal to quarantine or isolate. Students that have been directed to quarantine and approved to participate in concurrent learning for a specified period of time will be given a device and a link to the Google Meet to participate in learning.
