Winners to be Announced December 10th!
Thank you to all the staff and parents who took the time to nominate our talented teachers and education services professionals (ESPs). The School Improvement Panel (ScIP) would like to congratulate the following nominees for the Governor’s Educator of the Year Award. Teacher and Education Services Professional winners will be announced on Friday, December 10th during morning announcements:
TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Laura McDermott -- “Mrs. McDermott is an enthusiastic teacher who loves what she is doing, which carries over to her students. She encourages them to take ownership of their own learning.”
Gina Intile -- “Ms. Intile is non-stop learning and looking for ways to increase her knowledge and bring it to her students and colleagues. She has a magical way of making not only students want to be part of her class but colleagues as well.”
Kelly Shea -- “Mrs. Shea takes time to learn all of her students’ strengths and weaknesses so she can teach them in their own way of learning. She makes work fun and never gives up on her students and doesn’t allow them to give up on themselves.”
Gina Funk -- “Ms. Funk always sets high, but realistic, expectations for academic and social emotional success for every student in her classroom. Students grow and show progress in her classroom due to Ms. Funk’s exceptional ability to motivate her students to learn and achieve."
Nikole Harxhi -- “Mrs. Harxhi gets to know her students and families, and their specific needs. She treats them with dignity, kindness and respect, and encourages and cheers them on, instilling confidence and a sense of belonging.”
EDUCATION SERVICES PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Melissa Serrano -- “Mrs. Serrano has a natural ability to connect with all children at Cedar Grove. She is consistently looking for ways to help out not only in the classroom, but also within the school.”
Nicole Formichella -- “Mrs. Formichella is an expert in her field. She dedicates herself to help students with both their academic and social emotional needs, and her relaxing and inviting nature makes students feel comfortable and valued.”

- Monday, December 6th, Tuesday, December 7th & Wednesday, December 8th -- PTO Holiday Shop (Students will have one assigned time during these three days to shop!)
- Wednesday, December 8th -- Early Dismissal for students at 1:55pm/Staff PD
- Friday, December 10th -- School Spirit Pajama Day & Holiday Drive-Thru 5-8pm
Friday, December 17th -- “Mrs. Berberick’s Favorite Color Day**” (Blue) & Holiday Drive-Thru (RAINDATE) 5-8pm
Monday, December 20th -- “Thankful for Mrs. Berberick Day**” & Holiday School Spirit Day (Wear colors, clothing & accessories that represent your holiday)
Tuesday, December 21st -- “Mrs. Berberick’s Always Good for A Sweet Treat Day**” & Holiday School Spirit Day (Dress like your favorite holiday character)
Wednesday, December 22nd -- “Caroling for Carol (Berberick) Day**” & Holiday School Spirit Day (Ugly Sweater Day)
Thursday, December 23rd -- “A Fond Farewell to Mrs. Berberick**” & Holiday School Spirit Day (Hats off to Winter Break; Wear your favorite holiday hat) & Building-wide sing-a-long
Friday, December 24th -- Winter break begins; No school
Monday, December 27th through Friday, December 31st -- Winter break; No school
Monday, January 3rd -- School Reopens -- Jump back into learning!
This year, every student is eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no charge. A cold breakfast meal kit (cereal and milk) will be available to any student who would like one. Lunches will be served in the cafeteria. Visit Food Services, and click on "Menu" for detailed information for the week of 11/29 - 12/3. If you have a student with a food allergy or do not want your child to receive free breakfast and/or lunch, please call the main office.
** In honor of Mrs. Berberick's upcoming retirement on 1/1/22, students and staff will participate in a week of "Mrs. Berberick-themed" school spirit activities to thank Mrs. Berberick for her fifteen years of dedication and service to Toms River Regional Schools.
