Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Thank you to our families that joined us for conferences this week! I hope it was informative and helpful to our families. Please do not hesitate to follow up if you have any unanswered questions or concerns.
Next week, on the 31st, we will be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat on the playground from 12:25PM - 2:00PM. Our Spirit day theme for the day is "Bobcat Pride''. Students are welcomed to wear their bobcat gear or school colors to celebrate this fun day together. Remember, no costumes will be worn on the 31st.
We will also be conducting our first "Lock-Down" Drill on Friday the 3rd at 1:00PM. This letter is for families to read prior to the event to help explain the drill and how to talk to kids about it. This is the prompt used before and after the drill. Teachers will be practicing with students this week to prepare for the drill and know what to do on Friday. We use this website as our foundation for supporting and training teachers what to do in the event of an emergency.
Celebrations are a great way for children to feel part of the school community and the Tigard-Tualatin School district supports these opportunities for recognition and parent involvement. Traditionally, food has been an important part of celebrating, including cupcakes, cookies, candy, and high sugar beverages. The state of Oregon has set the “Oregon Smart Snack Standard” as the nutritional guideline for foods offered on the school campus, including celebrations, rewards, and snacks, and the TTSD Local Wellness Program-EFA policy follows the Oregon Smart Snack standard. For more information go to Oregon Snack Standards web page. Just as a friendly reminder, we wanted to share that, per school and district policy, birthday treats (ie, Cupcakes, cookies, etc...) are not allowed at school.
Have a Great Weekend Families!

Join Tualatin Together for a special screening of the documentary ScreenAgers
ScreenAgers is a documentary on mental health and its intersection with screen time. Dr. Delaney takes a deeply personal approach to the topic. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories along with surprising insight from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, ScreenAgers reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.
The film is appropriate for adults with students in grades 5-12.

Volunteering
Volunteer process:
We are very fortunate to have wonderful community members and families that want to be part of our students' education by volunteering! With that comes the responsibility of making sure our schools and students are safe at all times.
Anyone seeking to be a volunteer for our schools and or buildings needs to be background checked and offered the vector training. If a community member and or parent wants to volunteer, they have to go through the volunteer process and be cleared before doing so.
Volunteers and after school events
The volunteer process must be followed if the person will be interacting with our students. Whether the volunteering will take place during school or after school, the parent/community member must undergo the volunteer requirements as outlined on our website. This includes all school and or PTO/PSO sponsored events.
Visitors and after school or PTO/PSO sponsored events
Visitors to these events do not need to be background checked and go through the volunteer process as they are not expected to have interaction with students. Adults that come as visitors to after school events are only expected to supervise the children/students that accompany them.
Covid Vaccine Cards are no longer required!
