Principal End of Year Update
TMHS Parents:
I can't thank our parents and community enough for providing teacher treats this past week. The staff was spoiled with love and support from all of you and I am grateful.
Happy Mother's Day to all, I hope you have a wonderful day with your children.
Congrats to our spring athletes - we had some amazing seasons. Our boys lacrosse team will head to the quarterfinals this Tuesday, Good Luck Miners!
My goal is to provide some important end of year reminders, please reach out if you have questions.
End of Year Reminders
We have two weeks left of classes and then four days of exams. A couple of reminders:
- Our THS class awards ceremony will take place on May 23rd at 2:00. You will be notified if your child is receiving an award. Students may apply each year to receive a THS Community Service Award. Those who receive the award must meet the requirements of the Community Service committee in each of the following areas:
- Outline of projects
- Log of hours (24 hours minimum)
- One-page self-reflection
- Two (or more) letters of recommendation
- Our 8th grade end of year slideshow will also take place at 2:00 on May 23rd.
- We have seen in increase in students missing one class to work on another class. While I appreciate that students want to get their work done, they can't miss one class to work on another. That is considered skipping.
- Congrats to all students who took their AP exams over the past two weeks. As a reminder, students are expected to attend their AP class through May 26th. They do not need to attend the exam block.
- As part of our academic integrity procedure students sign off on the agreement three times a year. They will be signing it this week in tutorial. We have added a section on AI, ChatGPT and use in schools. Students are not allowed to use any AI sites to produce the work for their teacher. We are still learning a lot about AI and will educate ourselves on next steps. Turnitin.com has an AI detection software built in and we also cross reference with ChatGPT Zero. Our teachers expect to see students original work. If a student needs assistance getting started they should talk with their teacher.
- Our final exams start May 30th, please see the exam schedule below. We will not be administering exams early, if you have a conflict please reach out to your child's teacher.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools. If you have any questions about the end of year please do not hesitate to contact me.
