Monthly Events Of Wildcats: August 2018

Principals Message

In efforts to communicate and share more information with families, we will be constructing a monthly newsletter. For additional connections with TEWMS, I ask that you visit our school web site often, follow us on Twitter (@TEWMSPrincipal) and like our Facebook page.

Being coming a member of the TEWMS PTSA is another great way to be involved with the Wildcat community. Please contact our PTSA President: Heidi Sulpher: You can also join their Facebook page.

Starting this year we are setting up groups for each of our classes as another way to share information with you that pertains to a specific grade of students. Please consider joining the appropriate group as a helpful way to stay connected thru text messaging.

Big picture

For the 18-19 school year, all students will receive a Wildcat Binder.

Since we know that a large majority of middle school students struggle with organization, we will be working on this life skill as a school wide initiative. This binder will be their student planner, a tool for school wide communication with families, and a place where students will monitor their progress on essential standards as well as academic progress throughout the school year. This will not take the place of any classroom notebook/folder(s). Students will be expected to have their Wildcat binder with them on a daily basis. Study Hall teachers will be checking and monitoring student binders through out the school year as well as every day for the first 21days of school. As research shows that in efforts to make something a habit, the human brain must experience the behavior for at least 21 days.

Do you have a "MyStudent" Parent account?

If not, please make one as soon as possible! Starting this school year, the school district will be providing progress reports and report cards in digital format through MyStudent. This is where you can monitor your students attendance, grades, test scores, and class assignments. As well as a convenient way to communicate with your students' teachers. This is a one-time process, as your account remains active as long as you are a Pasco County School Parent. Register for a "Parent MyStudent" account. The district has developed a step-by-step video to assist you with this process. We will have laptops accessible to families to complete this during our Orientation day, August 6th.

Campus Activities:

Secondary Orientation/Registration Day:

Grades 6th, 7th & 8th

Tuesday, August 7th: 8am - 3pm

This is a great day to obtain student schedules, pay fees, purchase Wildcat gear, take a look around campus and get questions answered.

Returning Pasco County families and those who have already registered their student(s) will begin their day in our gymnasium. New Wildcat Families who need to register their student(s) will start in our Media center where we've brought the registration team to one place.
