Christmas Message By Mrs. Azure
I would like to wish all of our Wessington Springs parents, students and friends a safe and happy Christmas and holiday season. I want to acknowledge the contribution of staff, parents and students of WSES. Walt Disney once said, "You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful ideas in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality". This is certainly the case in our school community. The important learning and creative experiences and projects that have taken place this year could not have happened without a great deal of commitment and support from the staff, parents, and students. I thank you all and wish you the best this holiday season!

Christmas Present Survey by Kendall Kolousek & Kaitlyn Braun
We surveyed kids from each class in grades K-3. We asked them which toy they would like best. They could pick: a Remote Control Car, Sports stuff, Legos, or art supplies. In Kindergarten Jace Kolousek picked Remote Control car. In First grade was Kacie Scheel picked art supplies. In Second grade Kenzie Kolousek picked art supplies too. In one third grade class Will Grohs chose sports stuff. In the other third grade class Logan Klein chose Legos. This was our survey for this month. We hope they get what they want. Thanks
Story Teller Tom Roberts Wows the Crowd! by Tregen Jensen, Addyson Orth, Remie Roduner
Mr. Roberts writes Christmas stories and sold his books after the program. He says it takes about two months to get his book published after he has written it. He has raised $1.2 million dollars since 2002 that he donates to the Children's society in Sioux Falls, SD.
When asked if he has a favorite book he replied, "I don't have a favorite book. It is like picking a favorite child. They are all special in their own way."

Gymnastics in P.E. By Mercedes Jones
In the Wessington Springs Elementary School the kids are doing fun things in school but I am here to talk about our P. E. Class. This year our P.E. teacher Miss. Brondsema had the kids do gymnastics. In gymnastics we have to tripods, headstands, somersaults, and much more. We had to do some things with a partner and by ourselves. We did wheelbarrows and had to stand up linked together.

10 Things To Do Over Christmas Break!!! by: Kendall Kolousek & Tierney Knipfer
We have thought of some fun things for kids to do over Christmas break. Hope you like our ideas!
1.You could go on an old car hood and get pulled by a four-wheeler that is very, very fun.
2.The next thing to do is art projects.
3.You could just play in the snow.
4. You can go sledding while your playing in the snow.
5.You could invite a friend over and go play outside in the snow and build a fort or snowman.
6.You can have hot coco.
7. A nice thing to do is pack some stuff up so then you can donate it for some kids that need it.
8. Color some coloring pictures so there is no white.
9. Watch a holiday movie, eat popcorn, and drink hot coco.
10.Have a game night.
Merry Christmas everyone!

4th Grade Scientist experiment on ENERGY by Mrs. Azure
"This introductory energy unit will encourage students to think about the energy that things need to move. Students will explore how energy makes things go, from powering vehicles to moving one’s body. Students will experiment with rubber band racers to discover the relationship between how much energy is stored in a material and how much is released."

Stress-Busting Holiday Literacy Tips for Families from Reading is Fundamental
Stress-Busting Holiday Literacy Tips for Families
The holidays can be stressful for families but they’re also a great opportunity to spend time for those closest to you. Spending time reading with your children is a great reason to turn off the television, cuddle up, and relax. Try some of these fun literacy activities to bust holiday stress!
- Encourage your child to create bookmarks to give as gifts or to mark the place in your own book where you leave off during storybook time.
- Ask your child to help with holiday shopping. Have him or her write out the list and then read the items aloud as you look through the aisles together.
- Give your child a companion book to traditional holiday gifts, such as a book on juggling and several brightly colored balls; a book about fossils and a fossil creating kit; or a book about stamp collecting and a stamp album.
- When it's time for holiday baking, ask your child to read the directions aloud to you or read them together.
- While the cookies or other holiday treats are in the oven, read a short book together.
- Help your child make his or her own holiday gifts for family and friends by following the directions in a how-to-book.
- Ask your child to help you write out gift name tags. Use extra-large gift tags for tiny hands.
- Encourage older child to volunteer to read to residents in a local retirement home or hospital to bring some holiday cheer.
- Give a bookstore or online bookstore gift certificate as a holiday present so your child can select a new book on his or her own. Read the book together.
- Visit the library or book store and pick out some holiday favorites for festive family reading all season long!

Velociraptors are the second most intelligent dinosaur that ever lived on earth. Trodon was the smartest dinosaur that ever lived on earth. “Velociraptor lived in the cretaceous period from 75 to 71 million years ago.” A velociraptors middle claw is six inches long and tall. When a velociraptor is in long grass it can run up to 40 miles per hour . When it is hunting it can run up to 50 miles per hour. Did you know when there is no long grass it can run up to 60 miles per hour? That’s fast. I love learning about dinosaurs. I hope you do to.

Christmas Poem
By: Ella Kolousek & Alexis Roesler
It’s the season to be jolly
what’s christmas without holly
Put up the tree
we’ll go sledding and say “wee wee wee”
put up the lights and DON’T have fights
Jesus is born
the wrapping is torn
lift up your heart because of the season
Be a good kid or you might find the reason
