Greetings from the Principal
What an exciting year it has been! On behalf of our staff, we want to say thank you to all parents, grandparents, care takers, and community helpers that have made this year "smooth sailing" for students. Our wonderful teachers have worked hard alongside each student to provide a personalized learning environment, and we are all so proud of our Falcons Learners and Leaders!!
This year, we have 'Sailed the 7 Seas of LeaderSHIP through the introduction of "Families" and teaching of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We have also incorporated Leadership Notebooks for students to track their own learn and engage in goal setting with their own progress in mind. This has helped with student responsibility, respect, and being ready to learn and lead! This year more than ever, teachers have intentionally stayed student-centered in their approach to student engagement, and each Falcon has had the opportunity to be a leader in their classroom or the school. For the first time, we have held quarterly student recognition assemblies, in which student accomplishments across all grades and content areas have been celebrated. We are looking forward to continued improvement in all we do, and next year will be the official Year 1 of being a Leader In Me school. On behalf of our extremely excited staff, we are grateful for your support as we move forward together!
We hope our students and families have found this to be a fulfilling year for learning, leadership, and community building. This year there have been favorite school traditions that have been memorable such as music performances and PTA events such as the Daddy-Daughter Dance, Harvest Fest, and book fairs. We have also enjoyed some unique opportunities to gather as a community this year, including the Chinook Helicopter visit, Total Eclipse Day, and the Barn Bash! I know we are all still looking forward to all that May will bring -- the Spring Fling, the Variety Show, Field Day, Culture Day, 5th Grade Farewell, and Running Down the Hill on the final day of school!
Yes, we still have 16.5 days of school left (but who's counting?!), but I invite you to reflect on all that your child has accomplished, and all of the growth that has been made this year.
Smooth sailing,
Beth Mildren
Principal

Riverview Culture Week
The first annual Riverview Culture Week is May 14-18! The school's Diversity Team, comprised of staff and parents, will create a display in the front of the school displaying items from several cultures. Throughout the week, student-created posters highlighting cultures here at Riverview will be displayed. Selected student volunteers will also have the opportunity to share a little about their culture and language during morning announcements. The week will conclude on Friday with the opportunity for all students to wear clothing that represents their culture. All are welcomed to participate!

A HUGE THANK YOU to a parent leader Mr. Rigolizzo for making and donating our new Tinikling poles! They were just in time for the 5th grade program and they worked and looked great! Thank you for your time, talents, and generosity!
