BCMS Bison Blast
Buffalo Community Middle School - October 2021
BCMS Fall Conferences Information
We will be hosting in-person fall conferences on October 26th and virtual fall conferences on November 4th. BCMS conferences are always optional for families, since many families are already in regular contact with teachers via Campus Parent Portal, phone calls, emails and Google Meets. With two nights of fall conferences, we have a limited number of conference time slots. If your child is currently keeping up in his or her classes, it may not be necessary for you to schedule a conference at this time.
Even though your child may not need a conference right now, if at any time this school year you have questions or you want to set up an appointment with a teacher, please reach out.
Stay connected with BCMS:
BCMS teachers use Campus Portal to help communicate with assignments and activities with students and parents.

TikTok challenges
Dear BCMS Families:
As many of you know, TikTok challenges continue to circulate on the internet. In September, students were being asked to steal things from school and/or cause damage to property while posting it to TikTok. Now, in the month of October, a challenge to slap someone appears to be emerging. We have not had this happen at BCMS and we absolutely do not want this to happen at BCMS. As always, we appreciate your partnership and hope that you can have a family conversation about these unsafe challenges. Certainly, there will be significant consequences for a student who is caught participating in challenges such as this. Ultimately, we want to ensure that BCMS is a kind and safe environment for all.
Should you or your child become aware of anyone participating in these types of activities, we encourage you to reach out to middle school staff directly.
Thank you for your support with this.
Reminder: Masks are required on the bus.
What is WIN?
WIN is an acronym that stands for “What I Need”. It is a daily 25 minute period that happens opposite lunch each day. WIN is designed to provide flexible options to support students’ individual needs. During this time, teachers meet with groups of students for reteaching and/or enrichment of the current curriculum. We hope that WIN Time will give students time to connect with teachers, complete homework, complete make-up work and boost their academic performance.
Students register for WIN every Wednesday and Thursday. Please connect with your child about how to best utilize WIN Time.
